Where am I? I'm still here and I check in several times each day. I agree with Gilbert and Alec. Quality, not quantity, is what has made our forum successful and enjoyable for all our members. Want to know what I did yesterday? No? Well, I'll tell you anyway. I sat down at my KN, set it up with Symphonic Srings in R1 and Left, and Bass Ensemble in R2 (no magic there but I love that full, rich sound), then grabbed a music book and played every song in it rubato. Grabbed the next book, and the next . . . and before I knew it, several hours had passed. Wonderful! Almost as satisfying as a holiday on a South Pacific Isle. I have learned so much about my keyboard and how it works because we have super people who generously share their expertise with all of us. It is QUALITY stuff. If we suddenly have a quiet period on the forum, I suspect it is because folks like me,Ted Rose,Mike Harrison, and others are hovering over our KN's experimenting with the solutions given to us in response to our questions. On the other hand, Bebop, your initiative, enthusiasm, and cheerleading is QUALITY stuff, too. We need an active moderator. Keep up the good work!
I've said my piece so for me it is back to my KN, music books, and those rich strings!

Hi Bert,
Goeden Morgen!
I thought since we always write in English on this forum and I can still remember some of the Dutch language, you might appreciate me writing to you in your own language. For those of you who don't speak Dutch, I said simply that I was stationed in Holland at Camp New Amsterdam near Zeist from 1962 to 1966. My family and I lived in the town of Soestdijk. Holland is a beautiful country and the Dutch people treated us wonderfully. We spent four very happy years in Holland. I promise to stick to English from now on.
Now Bert, I'll answer your question. The Bass Ensemble can be selected by pressing the Strings & Vocal sound button, go to Page 2, and Bass Ensemble is the fourth voice down in the lefthand column. The Bass Ensemble voice was not an add-on either with the EW01NX, EW02NX, or the EW65NX upgrade cards.
Hope this answers your question, Bert. Take care.
Chuck

Re string sounds, I recollect, a long time ago in the Technote Mag. an article by, I'm sure it was Frank Bez, (Frank, am I correct?) about Mantovani Strings, and Frank came up with, Deep Rich Strings, which were great, I'm sure I have them on a disc somewhere. If not Frank's I'll hunt out and post. Walter.

Hi Bebop, I'm here too, and like a lot of other readers, I'm involved with things that spring brings - cleaning up after winter and enjoying the outdoors and new flowers that are constantly refreshing my senses. I check in to the forum at least once a day to see what's going on, but don't always have something to say or any knowledge to impart, so I don't stick around for long. I see Benno Kattenat has joined the forum - haven't seen his name in some time. I am finding it harder and harder to come up with good sounding combinations for styles and have been stripping sounds from old files and doctoring them up to get something that sounds even a little different. With a little coaxing even a cello can sound good when mixed with a french horn, but how many times would anyone want to use that combination? It's a real chore, and since no one has invented new instruments, it's up to us, as arrangers and players, to put our imagination to work and find that special combination that makes the magic sound people enjoy listening to. That's what made the old band leaders famous - sound imagination. I'm tapped out. Anyone have any new suggestions? I still like the french horn, though.
