Not the G70, but G70 styles converted to Yamaha format.. Why? Conversion to Yamaha needed to use the $30 program One Man Band 10.1.. Although OMB comes with it's own wavetable, I am using another for smoothness and balanced sound..
The sound is the Edirol PC80 synth, only available when connected via USB to the PC 80 controller..and a laptop.. The PC 80 synth is 256 polyphony, and comes with editing software..
I recorded the demo styles as default factory G70 styles, converted to Yamaha format..No edits, balancing, or program changes..
The Edirol PC80 was purchased as close out .. new in the box..$199..
One cable (USB) connects the keyboard and laptop..PC80 has a mic input and can use effects from MixCraft6..There are stereo outs and sub out on the PC80.
This was recorded directly from the PC80 via the Tascam DR-07..No editing.
I think overall the results are excellent and on par with most mid priced arrangers.
Software arrangers are not as simplified (easy to use) as dedicated keyboard arrangers...but being able to use different VST's for any of the parts can be interesting..
The software concept works for me, as I don't rely on style play only.. only for request on the spur of the moment..SMF's work best for me, and give better performance results..
Someday I would like to try Dan's Varranger with a Roland wavetable..
