Why would a company that is serious about arrangers and musicians design a toy like that?
It's all about earn money, as always. Also the fact that MicroArranger is a neat little thing as it is could cause they hit a new group of customers to the Korg users with this "karaokemachine" who also can be used as a arrangerkeyboard. Stones next? Why not?

You have to think a bit outside of your own world, for everything that you may think is stupid, or a waste of time, someone out there might think this is the most amazing thing ever.
Beatles collectors, or just big fans of their music, or maybe the arranger performer who only does their tune? I'm a huge Beatle fan, and I think I might grab one, just to have fun with.
There is always someone out there willing to buy the thing you don't want
