THE WANDERER

Don, that's the same style I use for that song in the S-950. Good job, but a bit of constructive criticism. You need more fills, a few more breaks, and a good guitar, instrumental somewhere near the middle of the song. Overall, good job my friend.

Appreciate the advice Gary. Solos are a good opportunity to rest your voice. Need to work on my chops and incorporate them more often. I also need to get more familiar with OTS. Until I edit them and add them to the registration they are invariably way too loud.

Been kicking this tune around for a while and since it's now shown up here, I thought I might as well put it up on here, too.

Recorded by propping up my iPad on the sofa, and is sitting about five feet to the left of our Bose L1. Keyboard is my trusty Korg Pa1xPro, harmony via the on-board TC Helicon. Just messing about in the basement really, warts 'n all. smile

Great Job Donny? What keyboard did you use back then? I'm tempted to go back to my shuffle style and change guitars to piano as I noticed that your backing was very close to the original where they used piano. When your song opened up the first bar took me back all the way to my teen years when I listened to this on the radio. That shuffle piano is what I remember hearing on Dion's hit.

Good stuff comparing like this.

I'm not sure it was a while back but I would say it's either the Tyros 2 or Psr3000, against a SMF.... I agree the shuffle style works very well with this song,...especially for dancing.
But these days with my S950 I use a different style for it.
Shuffle Blues 2.

They all sound pretty darned good. I think Donny's was a Tune 1000 midi file, at least that's the way it sounded to me, but can't be positive about that.

Keep em comin' guys,

Correct Gary years ago I played on top of a SMF for this song.......
but now with the S950 I always do it live using the SHUFFLE BLUES 2 Style which works amazingly well.....
if I get a chance I'll record it for you..

Good stuff Don (Korg 80) and Donny. Great to hear different takes on this classic.

Donny, can you put up an mp3 of you doing the song in style mode, please? Or is there a way of hearing the style you posted on my computer? I guess it would sound pretty similar to Don 80’s, anyway.

Don (Korg 80), do you have a Korg? The style I used on the Pa1xPro is called Rock Shuffle. I don't know if it's still on current models. Yep, coming from a background of harmony groups, we really enjoy fat vocal arrangements. And we're very happy with the TC in the Korg. We probably don't use it to its full potential. I'm not much of a 'tweaker'. smile

Anyone else willing to put up a version? Ketron, Roland guys?

124,

Yes, I still have my Korg PA 80. Unfortunately mine doesn't have the TCHelicon harmonizer. For harmony I use a Digitech Vocalist 4 floor pedal. Think I have the Rock Shuffle on my Korg.

Don

Cool, Tony. Like the way you use that 'voices' voice in lieu of harmony backup singers. The whole thing had what I'd call a country shuffle feel to it. Good job. smile
