This information was posted on the PSR-Tutorial site my Marcel, one of it's contributing members. Thought I would share it with the good folks here:
What CAN and WILL store in a Tyros Registration?
Probably not everything you'd think.
This is a list of "almost" everything that can be stored -- and I think it may surprise at least a few people.
THESE CAN BE RECORDED INTO A REGISTRATION:
-- Accompaniment On/Off -- All Volume Settings Found In Balance Popup -- After Touch Part On/Off -- All Harmony / Echo settings & parameters -- All Organ Flutes settings & parameters -- All Sound Creator settings & parameters except for "octave" -- All 3 Transpose settings: Master, Song, and Keyboard -- Base Note -- Chord Fingering Type -- Chorus Type -- Chorus Return Level -- Chorus Depth (style part) -- Chorus Depth (R1, R2, R3, L) -- Chorus Depth (style, offset) -- Chorus Depth (Multi Pad) -- Chorus Depth (Microphone) -- DSP (R1, R2, R3, Left) -- DSP Variation (on, off) -- DSP1 Variation Type (style/song) -- DSP1 (Variation) Return Level (style/song) -- DSP2 Type (voice/style/song) -- DSP3 Type (voice/style/song) -- DSP4 Type (voice/style/song) -- DSP5 Type (voice/style/song) -- DSP6 Type (song/microphone) -- EQ Low Gain (Style Part) -- EQ Low Gain (R1, R2, R3, L) -- EQ Low Gain (style, offset) -- EQ Low Gain (Multi Pad) -- EQ High Gain (Style Part) -- EQ High Gain (R1, R2, R3, L) -- EQ High Gain (style, offset) -- EQ High Gain (Multi Pad) -- Filter Brightness for R1, R2, R3, and L -- Filter Harmonics for R1, R2, R3, and L -- Filter Brightness for Style Parts -- Filter Harmonics for Style Parts -- Foot Pedal function -- Foot Pedal settings -- Initial touch on/off -- Initial Touch Off Level -- Initial Touch Part On/Off -- Left Hold -- Line Out -- Main Section setting (A, B, C, or D) -- Microphone Effect On/Off -- Modulation Wheel Part On/Off -- Multi Pad file -- Octave for R1, R2, R3, and L -- OTS settings (but only if stored with a Style) -- Pan Position for R1, R2, R3, and L voices -- Pan Position for Style parts -- Pan Position for Style (offset) -- Pan Position for Microphone -- Pan Position for Multipad Data -- Part Select -- Pitch Bend Range for R1, R2, R3, and L -- Pitch Bend Range for L (style) -- Poly/Mono (R1, R2, R3, Left) -- Portamento Time for R1, R2, R3 -- Portamento Time for L (style) -- Registration Contents Name -- Registration Sequence Data -- Registration Sequence End -- Reverb Type (style/song) -- Reverb Return Level (style/song) -- Reverb Depth (style) -- Reverb Depth (style, offset) -- Reverb Depth (R1, R2, R3, L) -- Reverb Depth (Multi Pad) -- Reverb Depth (Microphone) -- Scale -- Song File -- Style File -- Split Point (style) -- Split Point (left) -- Stop Accompaniment* -- Style Part Voice -- Style Part Volume -- Sustain -- Synchro Start -- Synchro Stop -- Synchro Stop Window -- Tempo -- Transpose Setting -- Tune -- Tuning for R1, R2, R3, and L -- Upper Octave **** -- Vocal Harmony On/Off -- Vocal Harmony Type -- Voice volume (R1, R2, R3, Left)
[in BALANCE popup]: -- R1, R2, R3, L volume -- Song Volume -- Style Volume -- Multi Pad volume -- Microphone volume
[in CHANNEL On/Off popup]: -- Channel On/Off (Song) -- Channel On/Off (Style)
THESE CANNOT BE RECORDED INTO A REGISTRATION (but in most cases can be recorded in either a Setup or a User Effects file):
-- Aftertouch Curve -- Auto Fill In -- Auto Revoice On/Off -- Auto Revoice Setup -- Effect Parameter (for Reverb, Chorus, DSP 1,2,3,4,5) *** -- Effect Parameter (for DSP6, microphone setting) *** -- EQ Low Gain, Song Part (stores in Song) -- EQ High Gain, Song Part (stores in Song) -- Fade In/Out -- Foot Pedal Polarity -- Freeze Group setting -- Initial Touch Curve (sensitivity) -- Master Compressor Settings -- Master Compressor Parameters -- Master EQ Type -- Master EQ Parameters -- Master Tune -- Metronome Start/Stop -- Microphone Volume, Pan, Reverb & Chorus Depth, DSP Settings -- Multi Pad Data -- Multi Pad Name, Repeat, Chord Match, or Filters -- OTS Link -- Pan Position for Song Part (stores in Song) -- Registration Freeze On/Off -- Registration Memory Popup settings (Voice, Style, Harmony, etc.) -- Registration Sequence Enable -- Registration + pedal -- Registration - pedal -- Start/Stop -- Style Touch (control of Style Volume by key pressure) -- Transpose Assignment -- Vocal Harmony Parameters -- Voice Set (L, R1, R2, R3)** -- Volume for Song Part (stores in song) -- All Music Score Settings -- All Midi Functions & Setups -- All Multi Pad functions -- All Music Finder settings -- All Settings in "Utility" area (except Tap Perc. & Tap Velocity) -- All Song and Song Setting Parameters -- All Song and Song Creator settings -- All Style Creator settings -- All Microphone settings for EQ, Noise Gate, and Compressor -- All MFC10 Midi functions
(* with this, you can set it so that your next Registration will "stop" the Accompaniment)
(** allows you to turn Voice, Effect, EQ, or Harmony either "On" or "Off" for R1, R2, R3, and L, thus retaining or preventing the former settings and parameters. Useful in creating new Registrations from valued ones, among other things.)
(*** these store only in User Effect and in Song File. Without them, you will most likely only have "Default" effects. A serious software blunder. )
(**** I believe this means that you can store "Upper Octave" in a Registration and when you change to a different bank it will change the Octave.)
All of this information can be found on the Tyros Data List. It takes a bit of study, but it's worth reading.
NOTE: IF SOMETHING "SHOULD" STORE, but still doesn't, then you need to look at the Voice Set Group and be sure there is a "check" mark next to it. For example, without a check mark next to "Effects," no effects will store into a Registration. (And without a check mark next to "Song," some of the other checked settings will not store into your recorded Song.) Modify message

Eddie Shoemaker also uses a bunch of registrations per bank, all for a single song. I just use one registration per bank per song. Different strokes. Bachus, could you explain what you mean about saving midi and vocal harmony information. The mic settings can be saved, But, I'm not quite sure you mean about the midi information. You can save a pre-recorded midi file and access it via the registration. Gary
