Hi Guy's

First result for the Digitech Vocalist live FX

Just plugged into the daisy chain output of my speaker (Kustom PA100T) into the Zoom R16 then used Audacity to convert to an MP3 file. The recording is in mono with no frills, no messing about, raw as you might say. It's exactly what the audience would hear as I run in mono these day's.

The FX setting, customized ie. not a preset.

Harmony, One voice a third up 70% level, 6% humanized, 19% gender.

Reverb, Hall 40% level, pre-delay 26%, tail 85 %.

Delay, 15% speed (auto detect) 120bpm.

Doubling, 2 voices tight 32% humanized 30%

The mic is an AKG D5 (super-cardiod pattern).

As Chas said the editing quite deep and very simple to do.

All comments or suggestions gratefully received, if they pass the censor that is. rotfl

I'll post some more ASAP stop

Best wishes

Col

Nice job Col,.....sounds well balanced,....some friendly advice..watch your vocal timing on this tune,..
eg: the word "Hear" should be on the downbeat..
not "I" after it....on all following lines as well... cool2

good luck with your new unit!!

Sounds good to me. I think your choices on the harmony settings were right on point. Harmony part was very clean; perhaps just a hair more volume. That's subjective, though. I really like the little unit, so maybe I just wanted to hear more of it smile.

I like it. Mix of lead to harmony seemed "right on".

Morning all

Donny: I take your point, my problem is I never sing any song the same way twice, it must be from playing for 25 years in a jazz quartet.

Chas: I'll try it with a touch more harmony just for interest,
I'll also sort the cables out to record in stereo.

Eddie: Thanks' for the comment I do like this little unit, definitely a keeper.

Overall it seems, to my ears, to have a warmer more natural sound but that may be the way I had the VLT2 set up.

Col

I always liked the Digitec units over TC Helicon for that same "Warm" reason also... cool2

Sounds pretty good. On your harmonizer, did you use chordal or a scale mode ?? I always use scale mode and I need a unit that will let me program my own scales.

Hi Mirza

The harmony tracking is worked out using the backing track if you use the "Aux" input, if no "Aux" input is detected it will create harmonies from the background music using the onboard Microphone. It would also work by sending the headphone output from your keyboard to the "Aux" input.

You can also input the scale but it's something I never use.

This is the manual perhaps this could help with your query.
