Last night saw a Kn7000 on EBay for $1,260.00. I had three of them through the years; the last one I sold to Bob, he came to Jacksonville, Florida to pick it up. Sad to say he did not look good,; very tired.

I keep hearing the great sound on my old recordings – the keyboard is without doubt a winner. At $1260.00 I thought I would give it another go. This morning the seller brought the price to $1,600.00; I did not buy it. The window was fading on the left side. Is that an expensive repair?

I miss this place it was my home for many years. I’m playing a Korg Pa900. The keyboard gives you every option imaginable. It has some very good instrument sounds and good strong styles but as a package it does not reach what the Kn7000 offers.

My opinion: I have owned Tyros 2,Tyros 3, Psr910, Korg Pz800 and now the Pa900. Each year they increase the amount of options; they are now too much for me, too many areas that need to be adjusted in order to get what you are looking for. My Pa900 allows me to change or replace the factory styles, and much more. I am not interested in recreating a keyboard, I just would like to sit and play and enjoy. The Kn7000 offers just that. It’s very friendly.

Hold on to your Kn’s and enjoy the holidays that are coming.

Hi John,
You just said it all re. the KN7000 ! I still have two of them - one for gigging and one which stays set up at home. I wouldn't swap them for anything !! They occasionally appear on UK ebay and are still bringing good prices - generally £800 - £1000 ($1190 - $1488) in average condition and considerably more if in top-notch condition.

Best Wishes to you and your family for the festive season...

Cheers
Bill

Hi Bill, Nice hearing from you. Wow, life does go on. I do miss the happy and enjoyable meetings we had.

My question:
The Kn7000 I am looking at may need a new screen – do you have an idea if it can replaced; and if so the approximate cost?
This sounds like the old days, Bebop and all.

Stay in good health Bill, John C.

www.wdgreenhill.com are the UK dealers in parts for Technics keyboards. Might be worth giving them a call, John.

Thanks for your post Roger –It has been a long time since the Technics days.

Roger if you have a good deal on a Kn7000 I’ll tell Bernie I left town.
Just a joke, my sick humor.

Take care Roger, John C.

Hey John, We'll be waiting for you to show us a thing or two now smile

I think I have a packet of hen's dental floss but no spare KN7000 screens so Bernie's K7 is a good way to go.... and also... just imagine how much he will have to pay to buy it back of you one day LOL

Bernie... I'm Shocked Haha. I hope you're having fun there. I think I've just reached 9 keyboards myself but they are all Technics as you can imagine! I just got a P50 piano, love it!

Happy Xmas All,
Mike

I will be picking Bernie’s Kn7000 the week after Christmas.
After selling my third Kn7000 I gave away all styles, songs, and information. I thought I would never going back to Technics.
I am not sure what Bernie has for me but I will appreciate anything you’re willing to share.

Back in the saddle, John C. (Bruno)

PS, Bruno was my dog; we had to put him down about nine months ago. My wife named our new puppy Chi Chi – I won’t be using that name here, (smile)

Mike I owned and played every Technics keyboard from the Kn1000 to the Kn7000. I see your list of Technics keyboards; beautiful.

Sorry to leave the fold. I have spread myself too thin and my wife is talking about a bigger house for my keyboards.

You are doing an incredible service for Technics owners, and are a heck of a nice guy to boot.

Hi John, You may also find a file on my website useful. The file contains all the Built-In styles from previous KN series keyboards (KN2000, KN3000, KN5000 and KN6500) and are in COMPOSER memory format. In addition to these styles, the file also includes 82 new ‘World’ styles and 45 styles from the KN2600. The KN2600 has many styles which are common with the KN7000 and the 45 styles included in this file, are in addition to the KN7000 styles.
You'll find it here : www.willumspages.co.uk/page8.html

Bill,
I would never have imagined at age 84 I would be excited to get a keyboard that I have owned three times before. The Kn7000 has a bit of magic about it.

Thank you for reminding about your Website, I had forgotten.

Mike,
It’s been a long time since I studied the many areas you had offered; now it's time to get back to Mike's knowledge and solutions.
I finally got to open the internet addresses at the bottom of your post and as usual you covered so many of my future needs. Your book, the styles form all the Technics arranger, your detailed explanations. Thank you for the time you spent to help people like me.

Between Bill, Roger, Bernnie and the many more friends here I feel I’m on my way.

Thank you Mike, John C.

John,

Thank you, I hope you get a great deal from the sites! That's their reason for existing!

Also remember Nigel's resource here - http://www.synthzone.com/midi/technics/

It sounds as though you are going to have a brilliant 2016!

Merry Christmas,
Mike

Great Roger, thanks I got it.
Now if you would not mind taken a trip over to help an old fading gentleman to undo and understand all this stuff it would be kind.

Good health Roger, John C.

Roger I sat at my Kn7000 with a blank look – where do I start. You were right, given a little time and it is coming back.

I have not played a Kn7000 for some time, the sound is very different. The newer keyboards have strength in the low area; the Kn7000 has clarity that is fantastic. I used a small woofer with my last Kn7000, it sounded good.

Technics has a good but gentle bass and drums, how are you handling that Roger? I’m talking about contemporary music here.

Hi John,

I know you asked Roger but I happened to be awake (it's great having a holiday off work!).

In my opinion (and it answers your question I reckon) the absolute first place to start in setting up your KN7000 is the Equalizer (Page 163). This will deal with your overall mix preference and the bass sound you're discussing here.

The second place to go is the Expand Mode Filters (Page 67).

The Third place to go is the Custom Panel (Page 23). Keep working with this button until it has everything you like best saved in it. Don't be tempted to set it up as a simple piano, it's easy to get a piano. Save your favourite settings for absolutely everything in this button and thereafter use it as the basis for your future registrations. The Custom Panel does not get overwritten when you Load things.

I use my KN7000 through a Roland amp or a 5 speaker Home Theatre System that my son kindly got me for the purpose (it has a sub-woofer of course and can play CDs, you can pick them up for a song). You are also able to send different Parts to external speakers than through the KN7000's internal speakers should you wish (most people don't realise that so I keep mentioning it smile ).

Best wishes,
Mike

PS - The next place to go is the Panel Memory Banks BEYOND A, B and C. These very rarely get overwritten by anything you load, so you should store your favourite Panel Memories in them (and back them up now and then with a Backup Save). A normal Load only overwrites the first three Panel Memory Banks. A, B and C.
