Finally tried to hook up a mic to the 970 a few days ago and could only get a buzz. Low volume level and nothing in terms of an actual vocal coming out.
I thought it was a bad cable, but now the new pricey cable is doing the same thing. I've tried 3 different mics with no success.
I have the gain level/mic/guitar switch set correctly and a quick look at the eq seems to show nothing of a problem type nature...
What have I missed? (I never run a mic into the T2, so this is a totally different set up fo me.)
I thought mic wise, it was essentially plug and play?

Bill, it sounds like you have purchased the wrong adapter cable. The cable you need is an unbalanced cable, with pin 3 of the XLR as the hot pin, while pins 1 and 2 are connected together and grounded to the sleeve of the TS 1/4-inch plug.

Thanks guys...
I'm trying to figure out how or if I missed something in the owners manual about this. The section that pertains to using the mic doesn't address what kind of mic cable is required. It's likewise not mentioned in the small "notes" section to the right of various sub-sections within the mic operation. Nor is it referred to in the troubleshooting section.
How would the average person, let alone someone who has used Yamaha arrangers for a logn time know this?
