Just wanted to publicly thank Gary Diamond for his time and expertise this morning in helping me set up my vocal harmony settings on the psr s970.

Gary gave me over 2.5 hours of help which was quite generous of him. Not all of the time was regarding my psr to be honest, but it was great to catch up with him. It had been too long a time without doing so...

Thanks Gary! You're a class act and you're kindness and helpfullness is appreciated, literally...all around the world.

So now Bill your Voc settings will stay in place while changing registrations?
And now you have a perfect Voc FX setup that sounds good on the S970? If so please share.

PS...I agree Mr Wizard is one of a kind !!

Glad I was able to help, Bill. One of the perks of being semi-retired is I rarely have to work, which is neat. It was great to talk to Bill again, something that neither of us had time for during the past few years because of incredibly busy schedules.

Thanks for the Kudos, Bill,

Gary cool

I'm glad to hear I am NOT the only one who can't get a decent vocal sound out of the keyboard Yamaha should have some vocal presets onbard already made to choose from....

I did it a little differently. I set up my custom VH preset, complete with the mic settings I want. I named it Don1.
I set the registration parameters to not ever change my setting.
Every time I turn the kb on, the first thing I did was call up my Don1 VH setting. After that it stays the same until I change it or turn off the keyboard.
I found it quicker than having to load a startup registration and then go to Parameter Lock and change the setting there.

Don we are only talking Yamaha units... Korg is far superior in this department.

I think, and hope, I was able to solve Ron's problems, just took a little time on the telephone.

All the best,

Don, that's pretty much the way I set up Bill's system. Problem was, however, that most of his previous registrations had vocal harmony settings checked in the registration memory contents page, so those songs that he used VH for and had saved in registrations had to be changed. Not a big deal, but requires some studio work to get all the registrations where he wants them. And, he will not need to use the Parameter Lock when finished.

All the best,

Gary cool

I was talking about the S970. You don't have to do any of that on the Korg. You can have your full-time settings and change them if you wish with Songbook, and on the next song they will revert back to your Global setting, if you want it to.

No problem, Donny. I'm usually around most days, no jobs to worry about anymore.

NO way can I explain everything Gary did for me...

The solo vocal was cleaned up and sounds a bit better. There's just no way the on board vocal features can match what I'm used to from my bose tonematch and TC Helicon rack unit...

A very productive phone call, for sure...

I figured you were talking about the Yamaha, Don ... and Donny is right - the KORG is SO much easier to do this ... I have some different VH settings for different songs and when I call up a song, whether it is from the Songbook, or a style saved in my 'Favorites', the VH setting I want is there ...

Tony, you can do the same with Yamaha's registrations, just a different approach to achieve the same end results. Seems as if every manufacturer has a different approach to saving song information, none of which are very difficult, but there is a learning curve associated with each technique.

All the best,

Gary cool

Thanks John. If and when I sail through West Palm next October, I'll give you a shout and maybe we can tilt a couple beers on the boat while watching all those young ladies motor down the ICW.

Here's an old Gary story,... I had sold my Psr3000 to a fellow online,.....When it arrived at his house all was well shipped in original box but he called me and said that when he plugged in the headphones they didn't work!!! surprised .....which was odd as I thoroughly tested every feature out before I sent it to him as I would always do and it worked perfectly.
After trying a few things over the phone without success I called Gary Mr Wizard immediately,.....he suggested that the new owner open the KB up and take a look inside and to our amazement there was the problem,................somehow and someway the solid state circuit boar attached to the headphone input had a hairline crack which stopped the circuit and there was the problem,....
OH BOY NOW WHAT????? So I called Yamaha right away and ordered a New headphone circuit board input....meanwhile....

Not to worry Gary tells me have the owner pop out the circuit board and send it to him... Gary in all his high wisdom somehow
re-soldered the board bridging the crack and it worked perfectly again,....sent it back to the owner and all was well again. Additionally when the Yamaha part that I ordered came in I sent that as back up to the owner also he was more then happy and we all lived happily ever after,...and that is only one of the great stories about me and Mr Wizard... cool2
