Casio needs to get the TOY image out of everyone's mind when they hear the name if they want to compete with the big boys..

There is only one way to archieve this.

REbranding their top products under another name.

As Toyota did once with Lexus.

I agree bachus REBranding is the way to go for Casio keyboard division..and produce a TOTL $4000.00 arranger or synth..like the big boyz..

What kind of Style library does Casio have ?

The original MZ-2000 could read and import Roland styles. I didn't see any mention of a feature like this in the new MZ successor. IMO Casio would be smart to license the style library from one of the "big boys." With the price tag some folks might want more variety, or the ability to re-use favorite styles from their current board.
I'm open-minded, but also a little disappointed because the style compatibility and a few parameters related to style control are missing relative to its legendary predecessor. The market will decide if it's worth what they're asking (and possibly whether there will be a TOTL version in the future!)

Rumors about Casio using the Techics knowledge database have been all around for quite some time..
Even said the MZ2000 was developed by Technics.

In the end, i think the dataformat might be not compatible with the technics styles out there, but a very new own format..

The MZ-X will also have the option just like Korg, to convert midi files to Styles



Everything however hugely depends, if Casio or someone else can create a style conversion tool, so people can take their favorite user styles from their current arrangers to the MZ-X 500





The only thing that would make this MZ-X interesting for a lot of people is if they decide to make an 88 key Pro version of this instrument... and throw in their more advanced piano moddeling technollogy, more polyphony, add 16 voices of multitimbrallity, and the solo synth and step sequencer of the XW series..

This would make it an under $2000 competitor for arrangers, synth workstations and stage piano's all in one instrument


Might be the PX-5S replacement that geets announced at musik messe or later this year....

I would never critique a keyboard from a video of such poor quality.
Below is a different YouTube video link and its most likely recorded directly from line outs of the board or perhaps through a mixer, but definitely not from a phones recording of the sound emanating through some speaker.
Not a bad piano sound at all in my opinion.
Disappointed this person didn't post examples of styles etc. only the piano and vocal.
Let's wait for more of these higher quality recordings before passing judgement.

I'm looking forward to getting my own hands and ears on this board. I'm thinking it going to be a LOT of bang for the buck. Very surprised though that it is not a 76 key like the previous older WK 3000/3200 series etc.

Ummm, didn't know about that. I was just about to spring for a PX560 but now I have to wonder if any that might be upgraded as well. Is this fact or speculation?
