Hi ,
I ended up ordering Alec's " How Do I Do That", extended manual for the KN6/65.

I thought I knew a fair bit about my kn7. I had worked a fair bit of it out through trial & error before purchasing Alec's
" Getting the Most from Your KN7000" extended manual which helped fill in a lot of the gaps about the SD Card System & Kn'7's Audio Features etc.

At the time of ordering the KN7 version, I thought why bother ordering an extended manual for a kn6/65 as I didn't own one.

Wasn't till it arrived a couple of days ago, that I realized just how much I didn't know about my KN7000.

A lot of the book is just as relavent to our kn7's as it was to the kn6's

Amongst other things it covers topics, like Sound Editing, Composer Patterns, Performance Pads etc.
Not sure if Alec's examples will actually work ( as they were designed for the kn6's not kn7) and I haven't worked my way through the whole book yet, but for me personally( I enjoy delving into " What can this keyboard actually do & how do I do it"), I'm certainly happy that I ended up purchasing the manual.

best wishes
Rikki

Hi Rikki, Best few buck you've spent this month
I think you will find that 99% of the content is applicable and most of the exercises will work on the KN7000.

Thanks Willum,
tend to agree. I had no idea the books were so different.
Great, i can't wait to get stuck into the exercises. I've got a " Hubby Free Day" today, ( the son's taken him to the car races) so he'll enjoy himself, and so can I, trying out the exercises in the book.

best wishes

thanks. folks.
All the exercises should work, and working from beginning to end will use virtually all the editing features in original and innovative ways. However with the 6/65 you will end up with professional patterns/pads etc that are very usable. This can't be the case on the 7k because the base preset library may have changed. However the principles of understanding how they are used remain constant

HELP! I bought the supplementary KN7000 book/ manual some time ago, with the CD included (or am I just having a senior moment again?). Anyway, I somehow have inadvertently misplaced/lost the CD, and have just spent days looking for it. Is there any way someone can send me a copy of it? I would be willing to pay, if necessary, but don't want to have the expense of ordering the book again. Or maybe it can be put in some kind of a file (ZIP?) to be downloaded? (I don't know if such transfers are even possible!) Any suggestions would be cheerfully accepted! Thanks all of you great folks!

the cd is Technote copyright, and is a little tricky to copy since a cd-extra with both audio and data, but somehow I don't think I'm going to get into trouble with Technote for sending a copy to a bona-fide purchaser
I'll mail you.

The book " Getting The Most From Your KN7000 " had more to do with the SD Card capability. That is a good thing, because it simplified an otherwise confusing capabilty of this new Technology.

The book " How Do I Do That " had more to do with editing the KN6000, and that was a good thing because it explained in simplified terms the editing process for the 6000

Maybe it's time for a new book that combines both, but made for the 7000.

I even have a title...
" The KN7000 For Dummies "

Hey buddy! I do appreciate it! And, yes, I am an honest to goodness, bona fide purchaser of the book, along with many other items from Technics! Thanks; I'll be checking my mail!

Hi rikkisbears,

Where did you order Alec's "How Do I Do That"?....I would love to have a copy & I'm sure it would help me get a lot more out of my 2400, as I'm making the jump from a Kn 1000 to a Kn 2400....

Many Thanks,
FlutteringBy

Hi,
I got mine through Walt Tenay
http://www.wtenaykeyboardstudios.com/

Send him an email just to make sure he still has some.

Might be worth checking with Alec ( Technicsplayer) as to how applicable the functions covered in the book are to the kn24. Unfortunately I haven't seen a kn24 as yet. ( great book, though)

best wishes

Hi Alec,
actually how applicable is the kn6/65 book to kn24 & kn26 players ( maybe even useful to current pr players???)

There could be some frustrated new owners out there, who could benefit, the same way we kn7 owners did.

The kn7 book mainly covers sd card functions & audio so possibly useful to a kn26 owner???

Just Asking ( haahaa )

best wishes

Hi Rikki & Bernie9,

Thanks for replying to my post.....I think "How Do I Do That" will be very handy to have as it will explain the proper way to deal with composer & panel memories as well as much other needed information.....

I'll look into it right away....

Hi Folks,
a difficult question, Rikki, because the books were written for their intended machines. Again the "How Do I" 6500/6000 book exercises will probably not produce the intended musical results because the presets will have changed. The principles of the exercises however will still be valid. Some chapters will not apply, no custom section, custom panel, home page or favorites programming, harmoniser or style converter, I would imagine without looking closely. The rest is pretty much applicable in principle.

The "Getting The Most" 7000 book section 1 is pretty universally applicable to everything. Both 2400 and 2600 have usb so the Song Manager and Audio Recorder apply. The 2600 is supplied with Jukebox and card reader here so Jukebox and digital audio and the SD sections also apply. However tabs and slideshow will not. Apart from custom, many SD functions are identical to floppy, so the principles of save, load and file management are the same.

Potential purchasers need to bear all this in mind before buying
