That is 2 random Namm visitors playing an arranger for the first time...
And thats not meant to be a joke, but a true statement, these guys also made the livestream from Casion on Namm, Casio allowed random visitors to play with the instruments..

they are not random Visitors. the guy closest to the camera is a world class well known singer/writer/composer called Frank Mccombe. he did numerous demo for Korg on the M3 , SV1 etc back in the day and is simply a hired gun.
This demo was not his best work for sure and the noise at namm is not a good place to judge anything.

On the stream you saw them arive, play for 15 minutes and move on.. They played mostly the 560 and 5S. But also tried to get some sound out of the arrangers, but they had no clue at all to opperate the arrangers..
On top of that, you just cant judge the sound of an instrument from a NAMM floor demo... I can only tell people to wayt for a studio demo if you want to judge the sound of this under $1000 beast...

I have played much cheaper Yamaha arrangers with no knowledge of how to operate them but in a minute have been able to get a reasonable sound from them. When I tried the Casio MX at NAMM that wasn't the case at all. And don't get me wrong I am not down on Casio keyboards. They have always been good value. I just didn't get won over by the MX series.
Select style, hold chord, press start style.. And play?

i think Casio is testing the waters with the MZ x500 to see the reaction which may lead to their vision of making a more TOTl arranger/workstation to rival Tyros/Pa4x/Audya/BK9 etc,..... we'll see soon enough..or it could be a total flop I hope not.

Its in the makes...
It has 88 keys and combines px-5s with The XW synth and the MZ-X, and them some more ...
It will be promoted at the Musik Messe..and in shops around the world this summer..

sounds interesting not that I would ever need a 88 key kb of any type ...but I guess time will tell for Casio if they ever want to regain what they once had in Popularity and be a player again with the top dogs. Also what do you do when you cant find styles you need for specific songs where to get them from, how extensive is casios styles library...or third party makers for that matter?

Actually if i wanted to push a new arranger, i would try to make sure people got ways to convert their favorite user styles from any of the other 4 big brands to my style format... That would be my highest priority..

I wonder how this newer style of playing with audio pads, loops, arps, tracks, styles, etc, is embraced with the traditional arranger kb players as it seems this will be the wave of the future with arrangers...
I wonder how the quality of styles are in the mz x500. Still no demo of that. If they are the same quality as the ones in the ctk 7200 then I will pass.

Aside from the quality which for $899.00 US what can you really expect?....more importantly is what kind of style library and how many styles can be found when needed besides whats in the KB...i guess we'll see shortly.
Casio has the AC7 style format and so does these new MZ-X serie. There aren't many styles for it at the moment. I have a few user styles for the ctk 7200 but these aren't that great.
That Ralph Maten demo was enlightening. He was operating the keyboard like a disco/dance machine. A few years ago I played with some fancy drum machines in the music store. They worked pretty much like the Casio in the demo. I'm sure you all noticed that Ralph was pushing buttons rather than playing keys. Today's youth are pretty good at pushing buttons. My daughter is pretty proficient with modern technology. She even gets a charge out of "pushing my buttons" on a daily basis. God Bless, Don

I hope these demo's show why i have been so enthousiast about the MZ-X from the first time i read the manuall...
