Some of my friends have been concerned so here is update.
Most of northwest Louisiana is experiencing the worst flash floods in its history. Our house is o.k., except a little water got into back bedroom from the garage, when we didn't place sandbags in the right place, nothing major.
But more than 3,500 homes have been ordered to evacuate. We've had 16 inches of rain in the past day and a half and at least another 10 inches is coming. Numerous roads, including Interstate 20 and 220 have been closed most of the day. All schools and many business remain closed as well.
The governor has declared a state of emergency and National Guard has been activated to help with sand bags and rescue operations.
I work part-time for the Sheriff's Office and everyone was called out to enforce road closings, and aid with flood victims and warnings to evacuate. They sent us "old guys" home this afternoon. They were probably afraid we'd have heart attacks. smile
The water rose so quickly that many were stranded in their homes until S.O. rescue teams could get there with boats. I saw one boat go through the front door of a house and load up the occupants from the second story and come back out! Local lakes where I fish rose 2 to 3 feet in less than 12 hours. All local waterways are closed of course.
You can see photos on Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office Facebook page and on local tv websites. http://www.ktbs.com/category/264512/ktbs-24-hour-news

Don, Wishing you the best and pray the forecasters are wrong and you don't get 10 more inches of rain.

Hi Don,
Sorry to hear of the terrible flooding. I original lived in
Connecticut and in 1955 we were inundated with rain for a
week. It wiped out towns, caused several deaths and misery
for all. I know what flooding is all about. Hope things
take a turn for the better and know all on Synthzone are
wishing the rain will stop. Regards, Lloyd

Hey Don,
That's too close to "Deputy Dawg" the animated character from Hanna Barberra cartoons. Be safe and don't overdo it.
God Bless,
Don

I'm a big fan of anyone that's willing to jump in and help people in distress.....and do it out of a sense of community. Don, yes; Steven Segal, ????????.

Well now I'm tired! First part of day blocking flooded roads and washed out bridges, then three hours of directing and blocking traffic for rescue operations in flooded subdivisions. Lots of people lost all their belonging. Some were trying to get out, some who got out were trying to get back in to salvage things, what a mess!
Many ignored the evacuation orders, then waited until we came to get them in boats!
The had Police, Sheriff Dept., State Police, National Guard, Highway Department, Wildlife Services and more out helping. It does make you feel good to be of help though.
I'll kick Stegall's rear end if I come across him! smile Actually he has done a lot of good work and publicity to law enforcement community.

Don, My wife and I are praying that you and your family have no serious difficulties. It is times like these that remind us of how vulnerable we are; how little control we really have.

Don we grow when adversity comes, you won’t get any taller but there will be more wisdom – handling whatever comes next will be easier.

Stay safe, John C.
