I posted this on the bar first, but then thought it to be timely and appropriate for this bigger group.

A member of my immediate family and her husband are missing. There was a false alarm yesterday; they thought these two kids were identified in a regional hospital. Also, her mother was in the terminal and got injured in the blast. She has lost hearing and has other injuries.

A sweeter, more delightful young lady would be impossible to find. Mom is feisty but a great person.

We are all hurting for them....BIG TIME!

THING LIKE THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN!

Hug your loved ones, friends,

Russ

Russ

Keep your head held high..... The world would be a much better place if we had more "Russes" in it. It is difficult to understand how this could happen.

All your Canadian friends are praying for you...

I'm very sorry that the relieving news turned out to be erroneous, and your terrible worrying has to go on.

The head of the German association of Muslims has said about these evil attacks that these mean terrorists will be struck be the wrath of God and of humankind, and I'm sure this was a very sincere, emotional statement. I really hope they will burn in hell.

I really echo your question " What's wrong with the world?".
So sorry to hear of this and and hope there is a good outcome.
I hurt for all the people in your situation and for the families who have already heard the worst.
Small consolation but, I'm sure there are millions thinking of you and willing a good ending in this.

Thanks, all. This really makes me appreciate friends world-wide.

Of course, that includes you great folks.

No word as of this morning.

Russ, sorry to hear about your friends and I sincerely hope everything turns out OK for them. I just got an email from my friend Ernie, who lives in Brussels, and fortunately, he was not in the area where the radical Muslim extremists detonated the bombs. Still, he is quite upset, and wonders why the very individuals that the people of Belgium reached out their hand to help, have now tried to kill them.

Good luck,

Gary cool

Russ,

Hope you are doing OK.

It's hard to understand what you are going through.

For what it's worth....

Back in 1975 I taught at an American School in Hampstead England. The IRA were setting off bombs there over a war that had started hundreds of years before.

On a typical morning, before we went to school, we had to look in the bonnet of our cars, check under the tires and in the trunk.

One Friday night, after a long day, a fellow tried to get into his car, about three blocks away from where my wife and I lived...We heard the bomb go off...we felt our bed shake...he died.

I've been in the military(11years...some active...some reserves). I was taught to face the enemy head on.

Terrorists are COWARDS. I don't care if they blow themselves up. They are afraid to face what they call their enemy face to face.

Sorry if I got a bit passionate here.

Thanks for the post, Rudi. Our family members are the ones from "the south"; later in the article identified as from Lexington.

I avoided names here to avoid additional problems in Facebook postings and associations with other individuals associated with the family.

Please, everyone, avoid picking up the name(s) and using them in these posts. You never know where they'll end up.

FYI: I just got a post forwarded from the family of the boy in Tennessee saying the body of the boy had been identified.

No word yet on our sweet little girl.

It's been almost a week.

I'm SICK about this!

Sadly, it seems that the young couple has been confirmed dead.

I am so sorry for your loss Russ. I know that there really is no easy consolation, but I would like to think they are in a better place, where no hatred or miserable little religious fanatics exist.
Please accept my condolences.

Don't know if I'm more mad than sad or the other way around.

This was a couple full of life and potential...hard workers who had recently finished grad school.

Our little sweetheart comes from the finest family you'll ever meet.

To you all; my sincerest thanks and appreciation.

I'm completely SICK over this unnecessary loss.

Even in the worst of times, there is hope. I've been thinking of the good deeds and good people around us.

It doesn't fix things, but it helps put things in perspective.

Most of all, I am devastated, not by the action itself, but by the underlying issues and problems.

What kind of ideology can justify this horrible incident?

The people who did this are probably parents, have kids, feel happiness and care for others.

If they wanted to cause intense hurt, sorrow and misery, they surely have done that.

Russ,

I've been following the story closely as I'm a "current events" person. And.....I've been thinking and feeling really sorry about how this horrific act ended up involving and affecting YOU.

But, what I really wanted to say, is......from your own posts, and from one of the members I spoke to on the phone, I believe that you really enjoy what you are doing musically and you stay busy with it constantly.

When my mother died, what I knew I had to do was to go right back to work immediately and I remember thinking back in those days I was lucky enough to be playing almost every day and able to keep busy 24/7. I felt it was no disrespect to my mother and that she would have wanted me to keep myself busy until "time healed the wound."

I'm hoping (and I'm sure) that's what you are doing and that "time will heal the wound" for you too eventually.

Mark

The funeral is Thursday. It had to be moved to a much bigger place. They had a military escort into Lexington.

That all helps, but not much.

Viewing last night and today. Found out that the mom survived because she is a short little woman. Was in a line preparing to leave. People were killed all around her. She was knocked out
and had other injuries.

Makes you appreciate the good folks in your life.

Thanks for all the kindness. Off to the funeral now.
