Deane, I sincerely hope the surgery is successful, and it's a very common procedure these days, so it should go well.
Keep in mind that the recovery process is somewhat long with this procedure and the only way to screw things up is to not complete the physical therapy after the surgery. Figure on at least three months of non-lifting and about the same time for the physical therapy.
