I sold my KN7000 and BK-9 and am considering the Pa4X. I am hoping that the update took care of the bugs, and would like some feedback on pros and cons. My Audya has the best sound, but is 4 yrs old and I don't know how long I can trust it. I am using my S970 and it is fine for what it is.

I had trouble delving into the Korg MicroArranger and hope the touch screen will make it easier for me to learn.

Good luck with the KORG Pa4x Bernie,...you can't go wrong it's an awesome arranger KB with so many kool features, but so is the Yamaha S970,....just sayin,.. better try to sell the Audya quickly also before the new KETRON line appears if you know what I mean.

I'm totally happy with mine. Great sounds and unequaled operating features.
The latest update, three days ago, adds some operating features that I am really enjoying.
If you have any specific questions I'll try to answer them.

Good luck Bernie. For me, 3 years and counting, the 3x has been a real joy and I long for nothing more. The 4x should be everything you'd ever want.

Everything? Really?

But it probably has most things many of us will ever need to make good music.. The latest update added lossless compression to the user sample area allowing for 800 MB of user samples instead of the previous 400MB

However if you want easy to operate.... Yamaha is probably the wisest choice... Tyros 5 would also be a breat option..

Thank you all

I believe I have at least a cursory understanding except I didn't see where I can compile a group of favorite sounds from different groups. The Audya has 20 slots in a group that can be brought up with one press configured any way you want. I know I can use OTS and sets for a work around, but when playing over a midi eg, it is handy to grab any sound you want.

If and when I pull the trigger, I will have more specific questions.

Yes, it does this easily. You can create banks of Keysets, formerly knows as STS (single touch settings). You can have the last Keyset you used auto-selected when you touch the bank button, or you can opt to select your sound each time. I use it all the time. There are banks that are preset for each sound category and you can use them, use part of them, overwrite some of them or overwrite all of them. Custom sounds are treated the same way if you use them.

Using pa4x is as easy as T5. It's just you can do many more things on it than on T5.

Don
Are you using the 61 or 76 ?

I am not a pianist but tend to play up on the board and drop an octave. Two hundred and a little weight difference.

You might be right, its probably where the PA4x gets deeper then the T5, where the operating becomes more advanced, The Tyros5 is a snorckling instrument, and the PA4x can do that to... but when scubadiving, the PA4x could become a little more confusing..

I also have to come back on my orriginal statement, as i missed the whole collection of instruments Bernie allready hsa, including the S970.... which makes the pa4x only the most naturall choice to make, if he wants another arranger...

I have the 61-note version. If I were not moving it I'd opt for the 76, but I have no problem navigating the 61. You can assign the octave up/down function to foot switch, pedal or button I believe. I will double check that tonight.
The EC5 foot controller is essential to me. I have five functions assigned to it.

Plus one, got my Pa3x in 2012, it's the longest I've owned one arranger, I guess? Also used the Tyros and PSR series since 2007 so that may count.

Bernie, Congratulations on the Pa4x-76!

Bernie, thanks again for the order, All updated and ready for you, you will be very happy. The PA4x i believe is right between the Yamaha and Ketron sound, allows you to get as deep as one can get when programming or operating a arranger keyboard but at the same time well layed out to use without diving into a manual every few seconds

Thanks again for the purchase

Congratulations Bernie,
I cannot see any reasons at all that you should not be happy and love the PA4X, or "Black Beuty" as I call it.
The only drawback most be the "long" wait before you get you hands on it, and that the hours in a day after you finally have it are to short. smile

Thanks guys for your well wishes. As Frank said, it is right in the middle between Ketron and Yamaha. I wanted a TOTL KB to really challenge myself with all the intricacies and make it something special. I must say DonM unknowingly influenced me to go Korg. Afterall, if it is good enough for him, well----.

I told my wife that this my last hoorah. She said "again". Oh well, music is my life and I only have one, and at 75, who knows.

DonM also offered his help, which is appreciated.

Congratulation Bernie! You've got quite an amazing keyboard collection that I'm sure you enjoy. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Korg, and how it compares to the other in your collection.

I will do that for sure. I just sold my KN7000 and BK-9, so should have a collective picture.

Bernie, you will love PA4X. I have also Audya and Tyros5, but none of them strikes PA4X.
Good luck with your new keyboard.
