Rikki, Your post echoes my experience with the PA4X. It really is a very good keyboard and the functions built into it are rather amazing. The only reason I am selling it has to do with the styles Korg has put on this keyboard. I auditioned every single one of them and very few fit the genre of music I am playing for my audiences. I also have owned and gigged with the PA1X, PA2X Pro, PA900, and even the Microarranger. All those had onboard styles that supported the older songs I play.
Anyway, that is why I am selling. Rikki, I checked the cost of shipping the PA4X to Australia and Wow was it a shock - nearly a 1000 US dollars with the insurance.
Deane Hi Deane, as to what Bachus mentioned, I have a heap of factory styles from the older korgs. All sorted into genres and duplicates removed. Haven't tweaked them, but a lot of them sound quite reasonable. I only tweak those as required if there's a use for it. If there's any missing from the pa3x that you were using, I could save you a copy. Not having a pa4x , I wouldn't know what styles they've dropped. Also have some user and song styles I converted from my PSR and Band in a Box, they have been tweaked . They're mainly ballads and a bit of swing. I really only play older style music, matches my age. Haha. . Happy to send them to you to ftry while you're waiting to sell your pa4x. I've sent a copy to a couple of other members, and unless they were just being polite, I think they found some of them useful. That's why I mentioned pity we don't live closer. Haha , wouldn't only be shipping costs, our dollar has devalued to 73 cents against your dollar and our voltage is different to yours Anyway, if you'd like a copy, just email me..

I am one of those people, and, thanks to Rikki, have a fine collection of user styles.
As to the original question, I find the PA4X to be the best board I have ever owned.

Deane, I was quite surprised that you didn't find suitable styles for your kind of music,as we are the same age, and play to the same age group. I noticed on the Korg forum that you had tried legacy styles direct from pen drive. I had the same problem and transferred some to HD, then used Media to move them to user or favorite. If you tried some big band, I think you might change your mind. Bernie

I have both the S970 and PA4X 76. I use them both for different venues and am very satisfied with both. The problem I have is going from a solid feeling Korg keybed to a light synth touch of the Yamaha. However,it has many good styles and sounds.

Hi Guys Just sent out the requested style files. If anyone didn't get them, please email me directly. I 'm not used to win 10 on my laptop yet, so they may have gone astray.
The pa800 ( and older) styles , only had 2 fills. so, if you come across one of those styles and it's something you want to use, there's a fairly simple fix on the pa3x , and possibly it would work the same on the pa4x, But, unfortunately I can't check because I don't own one ( yet) .
Load the style into a user or favourite slot. Press record/ edit current style. You'll get a message "fills and guitar mode converted" Press ok On the drop down menu, Write style. You'll have 4 fills instead of 2. Even though it's only a duplicate of the original 2. Better than having blank fills.

Does anyone know how to change the octave setting on a single sound in a keyboard set without changing all of them?
Thanks, Deane [/quote]

Does it have to be the bar shape? How about these, my favourite mini studio monitors The rub is how they fit into the setup - where would I position them? Are they small enough to sit on either end of my keyboard etc? I think a bar with a woofer might be a pretty good compromise No, they won't fit onto the corners of the PA-4X. The Bose MusicMonitor would, but they don't get very loud, just enough for enjoying music at the computer. - Although, for pure monitoring they might be enough. But if a separate lightweight subwoofer is ok for you, I think I have a very good solution, IF this model is available in the US: Bose Companion 50 (not '5'). I own one. The top speakers have very small stands so they fit on the PA-4X. The subwoofer only weighs 4.5 kg or 10 lbs. Strangely, according to the US bose website, they still sell the old, heavier model 'Companion 5', whereas here in Europe the 'Companion 50' with the lightweight subwoofer is available. https://www.bose.de/de_de/products/speak...ker-system.html

Ok guys, I've been working my tail off with this thing and it will go out on it's first gig today. I'll video it and post a link. So far I have about 80 songs setup in the songbook. I deleted all the factory supplied songs and added the ones I'll use for a gig. With all of your help I was able to get some of the octave problems resolved and added different sounds to the sound sets. Certainly not a finished product but a good step forward I would say. Deane Knock 'em dead, Deanne ... Reading the positive posts from PA 4x owners, I sometimes get jealous, but then I realize that my Pa900 does everything I need it to do ... I played a 2 hour 50's gig with my guitar playing pal in NJ this past Wednesday ... over 200 people for an outdoor concert ... I had edited a good number of styles, adding instrumentation with the Multi-Pads, changing voices, and recording additional accomp parts in the styles, etc. ... the KB responded beautifully ... plus, when not out on a gig, the KB is set up in the house and with the on-board speakers all I have to do is put the KB on a stand and plug it in and it is ready for use ... Deanne, I am somewhat surprised that you deleted all the factory songs, as I have found that to be a good resource for finding styles for certain songs ...

Well, I got some of the video processed. For those interested here is the link. https://youtu.be/QKfQznJyGwMDonny, in my opinion, the PA4X does not come close to competing with the Ketron SD7. Sorry if that offends anyone here but that is how I see, hear, it. Keep in mind I don't care about all the fancy features - I am an arranger player - not a composer - I don't use samples, I never use midi files, and the only time I DJ is if my setup fails to work at the gig. I much prefer the rhythm sections of the SD7 styles to the PA4X - seem much more real to me. Anyway, that is just my opinion. Deane Deane, i compared the pa4x video to your first sd7 video on youtube, and i think i can understand why you prefer the SD7 above the pa4x.. Both where forst gigs, and you sounded better and more in your element on the sd7... Seems the SD7 works good for you and the genre of music you play...

If the korg doesn't suit you as well as an sd7, so be it. You gave it your best shot. If there was only 1 type of keyboard available, be a pretty boring old world. People have different needs and they like different types of music. I haven't been around , do you still have your sd7.
