Personally I may need to stay within a single style and do something along the lines Bachus suggested , possibly make one up , out of suitable style parts. Transitioning across to the next song, do you basically do like a chord progression or something, bear in mind I don't sing, only play, whether or not that makes any difference . After You've Gone in (C) Modulate Cdim, D7 to Dinah in (G) Modulate C7 to Oh You Beautiful Doll in (F) Modulate Fdim to My Blue Heaven in (E flat) All with Organ Foxtrot style on KN7. It works great for me. Now, off topic but still on topic because it relates!!!!!!! I may have asked this question before,..is there a simple method of working out the modulating chords to change key? I gave up theory when I was 14 so be kind and make it simple if you can help !! Ray _________________________ Ray The Saint

There are many variations/substitutions, but say you're in F, and you're going to G ... you end song 1 on F ... play Am to D7 and you're at your new home at G! Your ear wants to hear a dominant 7 chord leading to the Tonic of the new key. It's a bold sound and sets up the harmonic structure. _________________________ No longer monitoring this forum. Fran Carango Senior Member Registered: 05/26/99 Posts: 9673 Loc: Levittown, Pa, USA	As Dave mentioned, the 2-5 of the new key works well.Always make the change a half step from the key you have played,there will always be an inversion to use..2 chord a minor seven and a 5 chord seventh.. Also you can use an arpeggio of the 2/5.. Donny,the transition is important for smoothness. Transpose button won't do it without playing the change. Also you will destroy a player with good ears with transpose button. _________________________ www.francarango.com

rosetree Unregistered	The easiest, or minimum, way to make a transition a half step up (with transpose button) would be at least to insert the dominant seventh in the new key before starting the song in the new key. E.g. Final chord of song 'C', then 'G#7', then 'C#'. So, press transpose button in the moment you start playing 'G7' so it gets 'G#7'. That would be a typical elementary shift upwards in thousands of pop songs.

travlin'easy Senior Member Registered: 12/08/02 Posts: 15576 Loc: Forest Hill, MD USA	I don't recall how the other brands work, but with Yamaha, if you take your hands off the keys and hit the transpose, nothing will happpen until you hit the accompaniament keys again. I've used this technique for years, merel by hitting a fill, then hit the keys to transpose. Transpose does not work for me as I need the chord changes to create the mood/ambience moving into the next key. It is also important for a singer to be able to move with the instrument for the next tune. I could do it by ear as I can feel the right sequence, but it just takes more time than if I had a theory solution, (I'm lazy too Donny)!!! Ray _________________________ Ray The Saint
