I just had to post this. Today I played a 4th of July gig for a place that caters mostly to service people. I played many of the Sousa marches and songs you used to hear at the park on July 4th when real brass bands played for the holiday. It was the most heart warming and enjoyable job I have played all year. To end the show I played our national anthem. Well, when it was finished I had tears running down both cheeks and could hardly play. The people stood and saluted, some getting up from wheel chairs, some from walkers, some only with the help of their family members. They sang so loudly I could hardly hear myself playing. When we finished the national anthem they began singing God Bless America all on their own. Yes, these old timers knew what every word of both songs meant and were as proud as they could be to have served in our military and to be an American.

And people ask why I play at these places ---

Hi Deane,
Gather you took your sd7?

The Technics used to be brilliant for marches, think I actually had a style disk dedicated to them.

Great to hear you had such a wonderful time.

Music is amazing, about 3 years ago just before hubby's mum passed away, they had a birthday party for her, ( by then she was in a dementia ward ). most of the people wouldn't have known their own names let alone their family. They brought an entertainer in, who sang and played piano. He sang mainly old wartime songs , and it was amazing, most of them were able to sing along. They remembered the songs.

Amen to that...

And i must say, its not only the old timers that know service.. I think every generation of Americans has fought their wars for the better of the whole western world and freedom of the supressed...

That deserves recognition on a special day...

Sorry, it was an internal film covering repairs to a recalled vehicle. Details the repair. Had to be out this morning to avoid a major fine per day.

American Brand.

I'm gonna take a wild guess........ this a vehicle where you make sure it's in Park not Neutral when unloading your equipment.
