Keyboard sets.

Most of the keyboard sets(Yamaha=Voices) that are assigned to the Korg styles I use don't work for what I want to do.

Anybody had much experience creating custom keyboard sets for styles with the 4X?

Are there tutorials on creating sets?

Tx

Sometimes I think my ideal keyboard would be a PA 4X with Yamaha voices.

Just set up the four sounds that you want with a particular style and save to Songbook!

I'm too new with Korg to form an opinion on Korg voices....other than acoustic guitar and steel guitar....Yamaha shines there.

I'm guessing I'll figure out how to get what I want for voices on my Korg when I work more with it....my winter project.

In the meantime I'm scrambling learning the Korg OS and performing three times a week with my 4X. At present, Yamaha voices are easier for me to navigate than Korg.

That said, even with only six weeks of live performance with my Korg compared to a few years of live performance with Yamaha....I would still choose my 4X.

Don,

I might be missing something here...but...

Korg might show a keyboard set of four of whatever.

Let's say I trade keyboard set #2 which might be a whistle and make it a piano. When I save it to songbook, the whistle choice shows whistle but plays piano...fine.

Here's the thing, when I'm using lyrics, I have to remember that whistle now = piano. Can be a bit confusing.

You can rename it when you save it. Touch the T icon and name it correctly.

I am enjoying the Korg Pa4X but after having a Tyros 5 and a Ketron SD7
I find the saxes are not as good on the Korg as on the T-5 or SD7
Other voices are fine to me but NOT the saxes. Anyone else find this
true or am I alone in this thinking ? Lloyd

Songbook change instruments

Main Page right side:

1-Tap the instrument you want to change
2-Pop up menu --- select the instrument
3-Select Songbook ---- then Book Edit 1
4-Left side of window select Write Current and just below select Write Current again.

This step is important.

5-Center of page you are on just below ALL STS select the large T with the instrument name to the right of it.
6-Pop menu. Clear name and write the name of the instrument you have chosen. Press OK.
7-To the right of the new name you will see: To an arrow. Press the arrow. Select which STS 1, 2, 3, or 4.

This brings you back to your Songbook page, Book Edit 1.
8- Press Write -- new page press OK. --- press Yes. The new instrument's name and sound will be the same

Hope this helps, John C.

PS, I have taken the time to write this step by step because it confused the hell out of me when I got my Korg. Don bailed me out.

To save a keyboard set to global, you need to push the KEYBOARD SET LIBRARY button for over more then a seccond. A new Global keyboard set can be loaded to any style..

To save a Keyboard set to a style, you need to push the KEYBOARD SET button under the display for more then a seccond, it opens up a dialogue where you can save your edditied keyboard set under a new name.
