Yes, to my ears I find 5 and 6 the most authentic sounding. The fact that I was never taught on piano, I cannot be the best judge from a piano player perspective, but from using the Tyros piano's I can say they sound very authentic in the total mix, style or multipads.

For straight or solo playing, at least from an arranger perspective, I would think best results would be achieved played through a connected weighted controller. Of course the better quality samples and complexity of the total sample set will show through.

For me, programming piano tracks within a mix and the odd solo piano part played on my Tyros arranger work fine for me.

One of the most interesting threads!

Using very tiny and battered netbook speakers, 3 and 5 caught my ear. 1,2,3 sounded too bright, almost harpsichord like
3 and 5 were a little darker
Always the bozo, I didn't realize there was a 6th piano, an i missed it.

With headphones, almost the same, though 1,2,3 became more full bodied
6 sounded weird to me, like it was a little out of tune, like old real piano.

I remember many many years ago someone here had posted a website full of sound samples from different pianos.

Hi,
I was only listening thru my iPad,
First choice 1,
followed by 5.(I've always been a big fan of Yamaha piano sounds.)

Marginally off topic but I am most curious to learn your views on this piano sound for reasons that I will explain later on.
Any guesses by the way ?
