All you Synthzoners out there in coastal Florida and the Carolina's; be careful and know that we're all sending good thoughts your way and genuine concerns for your safety. If it's possible for you to evacuate, don't hesitate; DO IT. Good luck.

Thank you Chas, Tony and Don! Just so happens that we are in Central Florida in the city of Ocala, Marion County. (wasn't supposed to be should have been home in RI this week). The TV coverage has been non-stop. Although we are inland 90 miles west of Daytona Beach and not expected to sustain the damage the east coast is expecting they are predicting 50 to 60 mile an hour winds with 3 inches of rain. I'd rather be dealing with a Nor'Easter type snowstorm.
I know that BtweenGigs Ed and Bruno123 are very close to the ocean on the east coast where the storm is headed for. Spoke to Ed a couple of nights ago via email and they are not taking this lightly.

We here in Bluffton SC so far are going to ride it out with some of our neighbors. Problem is leave and sit in traffic for who knows how long and go where ? Everything within a 6 or 7 hour drive is booked and we have a dog so that ads another thing to consider You also can't go where you want but must follow the evac directions. Can't get off the road where you want to . I was up at 4AM today to pick up a generator I had preordered [ didn't want it to get lost in the shuffle) then jumped in with the neighbors putting up plywood storm shutters all day. I know it's last minute as it's supposed to hit Fri. Eve so we may bail tomorrow AM if it goes back to a Cat 4 after hitting Fla. I have a pretty new house built to hurricane specs so we'll see. Right now having a Vodka and saving the Bourbon for the main event.

It’s 7PM, and it is due. All my shutters are up. Refrigerator is full. Plenty of water. Seven flashlights. And Phyllis and I are in good spirits. We sat through Andrew with slight damage. Our house is fairly secure.
I live in Port Richey, on the West Coast of Fl. We are getting winds and some rain so far but the East Coast is having some real problems and we pray for their safety. Steve, from R.I. is in Ocala and this is his first hurricane experiance here in Fl.
Fl, GA, the Carolinas are in the path of Matthew so Bless them that this Hurricane veers out to sea and spares people the misery of wind and water. Lloyd

Tony, Yes we in Ocala have been spared the worst of things, just some heavy rain and now light wind. Seems as though the east coast especially Daytona took a sizeable hit, but not as strong as what hit the Caribbean. Glad to hear New England will escape this storm!

First...thanks to those who called, emailed & texted. All is well on the Treasure Coast of Florida from what I can tell. We had the expected rain and winds, but it was not as bad as anticipated. We prepped for a lot worse....and will in the future should we be threatened again. The area where Steve is looks to be more of a concern. Eddie

Eddie, We dodged the bullet here, things are pretty mellow despite some reports that things could get nasty.

side note: anyone here ever do ( or even HEAR?) the song "Matthew" by John Denver? I do that one alot. When my first son was born we were torn between naming him Matthew or Christopher. There was a great song for each choice, but Christopher won out (because of Winnie the Pooh) - but I still love the song! Anyone do "House at Pooh Corner?" I know, I know ... it's off topic, and shows my folksy 60s/70s side, but I really love both songs.
