Hi John C
No one else can answer that but you, as it’s a very personal thing.
My favourite is the PA4x 76, as it sounds more real and lifelike, plus it has very good editing facilities and a Touch Screen, whereas the T5 I find OK, but apart from a few features (General voices, Ensemble, Part of Organ World and SA (NOT SA2) voices) I find it lacking compared to the live performances I regularly attend. (If I was going for a Yamaha I would choose the PSR 970 or a used T4)
In the future also think about adding a pedal board (Go for at least 17) and a 2nd manual (There are plenty of dedicated kits out there) so that you can really do your own thing.
Hope this helps
Bill

I agree with Bill as to a personal preference. The fact that it is strictly a home instrument,IMHO, levels the playing field. They both are great keyboards, and I considered both, but performance navigation, ease of transport, better sounding bass and accompaniment(for gigs) led me to the Pa4X. It is very intuitive, and had no problem learning it(as far as I have gotten). The fact that it can play CDG files and easily make styles from midi, was another reason. Lastly, an old country boy from Louisiana tilted the scale.
OOH the T5 was close in the race for a lot of reasons, like, all the styles you would ever want being easily available for free, Organ World, ensemble, great sounding lead instruments(although Pa4X does too), and features the T5 people could mention.
Since some of my reasons are now moot for you, it is a toss up except for a grand difference in price.

The more Pa4X boards people buy, the less the next Tyros is going to sell. Lloyd The more Pa4X boards people buy, the more used Pa4X boards are going to be traded and resold to upgrade to the new Tyros/Genos model. Just look at the trends here in the General Arranger forums, a large percentage of players always trade to the latest new model, regardless of brand, only to resale again shortly after being bored once again or not up to expectations. Learn your instrument and features, and make the best of your latest arranger. I have learned the Yamaha O.S. quite well, and will stick to what works for me, plus compatibility of previous work. The Tyros 4 was a beauty, but I couldn't resist the new Tyros 5 features, namely Organ World, Ensemble, and the upgraded voices/audio styles. Obviously, one has to upgrade from time to time, but important to consider wear and tear, reliability over time, and best interval to maximize trade in value. If you already have a board, I would wait and see what Yamaha offers in their upcoming Tyros/Genos model, but I have to agree potentially a year or so is quite long to wait. Marcus
