I've set up a couple of hundred registrations on the SD7.

Here's the scenario, I choose a registration for a song that begins with the letter "M", play that tune my next song begins with the letter "W" but when I tap the registration button it defaults to the first entry in the list of registrations that begin with the letter "A", is there a way to prevent the registration from going back to the first entry?

Hi Stephen,
My SD7 does not behave that way. If I select a registration say to play Stardust and the want to play All Of Me I simply have to use the wheel to scroll to the next song. If I press the registration button it simply stays on the last song played. Perhaps I did not understand your question.

Deane,

Your description is how I would expect the registrations to work. In my case using your example I turn the wheel initially to play Stardust when I hit the registration button to play All of Me it would then take me back to the first registration that starts with the letter "A" then I would need to scroll to All of Me.

The key point is no matter what registration I use after playing a song pushing the registration button takes me back to the top of the list. Keep in mind after I set up registrations I use a computer to remove the number sequence in front of each registration so that they are alphabetized.

Hi Stephen,
I too remove the numbers from the registrations but I am not getting the results from the keyboard you are getting. I would call AJ and find out what if going on.

Deane,

Thanks for your input, I've sent an email to AJ and asked him to check out this thread.

As of OS 1.2.0, if you exit from the REGISTRATION screen ... then go back into it, the last selected registration is what is highlighted. You can then turn the data wheel to move onto the next.

The older OS was set up where if you exited from the REGISTRATION screen and returned to it, it always scrolled right back to the top of the list.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

AJ

AJ, thanks.

I have OS 1.2.0 installed already. I decided to reinstalled it today to see what effect if any it had by reinstalling. The is odd thing is that Banks, 2, 3 and 4 work as they should. Bank 1 defaults to the top of the registration list. It's not a major issue just strange why it behaves that way. I'm going to remove all my regs from bank 1 and move them to another bank, then copy and paste a few regs back to bank 1 to see what kind of result I get.

The puzzle gets more baffling. Ok since banks 2, 3 and 4 were acting normally. I decided to cut and paste all my registrations from bank 1 to banks 2 and 4 as an experiment. Well yes you may have guessed now banks 2 and 4 are not taking me back to the original registration entry, instead it brings me back to the first tune in the list. With that said I copied a number of registrations ( tunes that started with the letters a and b). Now Bank 1 is working correctly. I left Bank 2 alone since it was working correctly with registrations I set up for Christmas gigs.

Is it possible I have a corrupted registration somewhere with my registrations?

Do you have a back up of your registrations you can use in place of those in the keyboard at the moment?

Hi Stephen,
If you have used converted styles for a registration that might be the cause of the problem. I have many thousands of the ketron legacy styles that I converted for the SD7 and most work really great. Some cause problems for some reason. Unfortunately, there is no way to know which one will be cause a problem until you try it.

I did some cutting, copying and pasting of my registrations thru my Chromebook laptop...........so far so good, Bank 1 registrations are working properly i.e. I get back to the registration that was being used and not to the top of the list.

Stephen,
I have learned two things about my SD7 that are important.
1. The time it takes to get what you want from the SD7 is well spent.
2. Make darn sure you make backups EVERYTIME you make changes.
I usually copy the USER_STYLE, USER_VOICE, and REGISTRATION
folders to a thumb drive.

i may have already mentioned this, but name any user voices (and styles if you plan to add custom styles) with numbers at the start. e.g. 001_Piano 002_Dark_Piano and so on

That way it wont mess your registrations up if you add a new sound or style that is alphabetically lower than the voices already saved. Ketrons registrations don't link to actual files, but to locations.

As an example if your first user voice in the Trumpet section is called "Harry_James" and you have a registration that loads the voice, adding a new user voice called "Alison_Balsom" will save 'before' the Harry_James trumpet. Now your registration will link to Alison_Balsom instead. Adding the numbers in front stops this from happening.
