Is there any app that runs on an iPad (under iOS operating system) that has some basic "arranger-like" functionality? Sort of like a V-Arrager-Lite idea? This is for a friend who wants a simple 'arranger-like" function to put with his Hauptwerk-based organ. He has a Roland BK7 module (I think that's the number), which does work fine, but is more complicated (and physically bigger) than he wants; he's hoping to have something that could run on an iPad Mini.

He doesn't need the full capabilities (or complexities) of a full arranger module; just a way to play a few dozen rhythm patters, have a few fills and variations, and have it play drums at least, and maybe bass and one accompaniment sound like guitar or piano depending on the style. He talks about wanting sort of a stripped-down, simplified version of what an arranger keyboard or module does.

Or, are there any modules or similar out now, that are like a simple, stripped down (ie. not too complicated) 'arranger-in-a-box'? He is not looking for the full-fledge functionality of V-Arranger or for an actual arranger keyboard.

Thanks,
Jim

Take a look at MidiBand. It plays Yamaha PSR type style files and will even convert MIDI files to styles, all for $3.99 USD.

Thanks - I'll pass these ideas along to my friend. He knows about vArranger but is primarily a Mac user. I'll have him check out Midi Band (app).

Thanks!

I do have the paid version. It does work, but I wouldn't even compare it with vArranger. I know many asked Dan at vArranger to consider writing an IOS version.

I dont think there is much money in arrangers on ios.. considering the amount of work it takes to rewrite for ios. (apple has a very specific design platform) and all the features Dan plans to add to Varranger on PC... i can understand why he is staying away from IoS..

I think Dan has come to a point in development however, where he needs to find new sources of money... thats something we have seen with the addition of the brand specific soundsets..
I guess most people really interested in VArranger allready own it, so either he needs to find a reason for those people to spend more money on Varranger, or he needs to add something that will make new people buy it..

But IoS at the current IoS prices and the very specific group of people interested in a product like this does not seem the most likely road.
