Nick, My opinion; The yamaha has a sound of a club band, a little muddy and and heavy bass and drums, Closer to what you hear for contemp. music.
Technics has a clear bright sound, ballroom, concert hall, light drums and bass.
My preference is the clear sound. I am using an EQ to color the sound when needed. It's not the same, but it gets closer.
I am using a stereo set-up, wires from keyboard to EQ, to two JBL powered speakers. If I ever get to adding a bass woofer, I feel I'll have more than I want. The EQ and woofer will bring the drums and bass to the front. John C.
