I think there are at least three kinds of 'forum' addicts.
1. Readers: check in 10 times a day but rarely post or respond to a post.
2. Responders: those that feel compelled to respond to EVERY post - ego-driven need to maintain a high profile of the forum - strong need to 'be loved' (my opinion). Also because they feel they can explain or elaborate on your post better than you can (and usually come armed with the relevant videos).
3. Pot Stirrers: Random posts apparently generated for the sole purpose of having someone respond "Great post, Timmy" or "thanks for posting that". These usually show up when there's nothing around exciting to respond to.
The main thing is, all three are addicts and should probably spend more time pursuing hobbies or (better still) real-life relationships. For the record though, most of us (including myself) fall into one of these three categories, just some more than others. Age (and boredom) is certainly a factor, in that the older we get the more time we have to pitter away at the computer and the less time we spend traveling and visiting friends, playing sports, doing household chores, etc.
Still, it beats online gambling and checking out porn sites (maybe
). But step away from the computer, go for a walk, see what the grandkids are up too (try to seem interested
), learn a new tune or get 'in depth' with one of your toys. You'll be happier in the long run 'cause additions are usually BADDDDD. Just my thoughts on the subject.
