UPS arrived yesterday morning with a package containing a gorgeous Eastwood Airline H78 semi hollow body guitar. It is an incredible gift. It is magic to play. I can't thank you all enough.

Kerry took a video of me unpacking it that I am currently uploading to Youtube to post on the forum. All the kind notes that accompanied it made it very special. I feel so very honored.

I always knew we have the best online community here at Synth Zone and this very generous gesture confirms I am right thinking that. Here is a photo of it after I unpacked it but I hope to post the video of me unpacking later tonight. I was like a kid on Xmas morning.

No big deal, man. I got one just like it! Same color, even.

Hey, wanna start a group?

Russ (Tone Monster # 2) Lay

That grin is worth more than the guitar to me. And, maybe you'll get so distracted you won't catch me flirting with Kerry!

Be well, both of you.

R.

Nigel, it was the least we could do for all these years of enjoyment you have provided to the masses on the Synthzone. You are The Wizzard From Oz.

Thanks again, old friend,

This is the first weekend I haven't had to work for a while. I fired up my 5 watt tube Blackstar with the H78 and I am knocked out. The guitar setup is perfect. Plays like magic. It really is inspiring to play. But even better it sounds fantastic. I put a little hi grain crunch on it so I could pull out some bite when I needed it. Just a perfect guitar. It makes me want to play a lot more.

Next time I play with it I will get Kerry to take a short video so you can see what a ball I am having with this guitar. I simply love it.

Played mine at a car show yesterday...rockabilly, with a tenor, upright with Underwood pick-up (son), drummer (grandson) and me on the H-78 and Wurlitzer piano.

Son's 41 Olds won a "best of show" prize, My Buick Riviera (85) won a ribbon and our 64 Cushman got a best in class award.

I used an old Vocal Master with original speakers, a Boss echo pedal (originally, everyone used a tape Echoplex) with the vocal microphone.

About 1500 people. Money raised went to a fund for a little girl who lost her leg.

GREAT GUITAR FOR ROCK-A-BILLY!

So glad you like it, Nigel!

Russ (1/2 of the Tone Monsters) Lay

Guitar and piano played thru a 59 Bassman (think Super Reverb in a dark brown case). Cheated a little. Had an effects loupe, line out and line in added to the Vocal Master head. Miked everything, put it into a small Carvin mixer; back to small floor monitors. Hey I'm old and can't hear everything, like I used to.

H-78 set up by yours truly. Included neck fine adjustment, minor fret dressing, string change and lowering. Pretty good right out of the box. Better tan stock Gibson's or Fenders.

Enjoy!

(I put flat wounds on mine, because I'm going to play a few jobs with an area Philharmonic, and need that 335 neck pick-up sound).

You did a fantastic setup Russ. The action and general setup is awesome. I can understand why you would use flatwound strings for the jazz sound you want. But the round wound strings were perfect for me for a rock/blues sound. And they were just the right string gauge. It is the only guitar I have with a Bigsby tremelo and it stays in tune so well. I am actually very surprised. That roller bridge makes a big difference.

Those gold foil pickups really come to life with a tube amplifier.
