And there you have it . The motif es is a true workstation Perfectly suited to all kinds of music . And then the montage which is a performance synth suited to what appears to be a limited style of music .

I have to agree. This is the direction Yamaha thinks the music is going and have made the Montage accordingly. I think there will be some people hanging on to the Motif.

Its a design decision...

Because yamaha realised that they cant havd 2 instruments suited for all styles of music.. motif and tyros..

Thats why the upcomming Genos will be the only Yamaha instruments to cover all musicall styles..

I have to disagree with you Bachus .

I don't know what information you have about whatever Yamaha next bring out but the tyros and motif range cover completely different segments of the market . What Yamaha have done with the montage is remove the workstation element of the keyboard almost completely and now it is a sound scaping tool . This is why the motif line keyboard is still yamahas only workstation keyboard .

I was disappointed with the montage on the basis that it was not a workstation . But I most certainly do not believe the next Yamaha will be a blend of the tyros style playing keyboard and a fully fledged workstation . That would alienate yamahas pro keyboard market and completely confuse their home keyboard market .

If you look at most of the latest Yamaha keyboards they focus on specific types of sound production, (Rather than covering all areas like the Motif) with all the sundry items (DAW etc.) available in Apps for use on an iPad. (This also applied in a limited way to the T5 and no doubt will be further adopted in its replacement) The days of having everything all in one are disappearing, (Roland focused on specific types of instruments some time ago) instead you just get the specific type of instrument you want, (Which is what a lot of musicians want rather than paying extra for something they are never going to use) and if you decide to expand at a later date you just get the App.

Times are a changing, and manufactures have to adapt.
