Had my shiny new Genos for a few days now
Wow what a machine.
As you can see I have a Tyros4 and a PSR-S970, which are still incredible on their own.
The T4 will be up for sale soon ...
As said before: It looks very professional and is well built.
The touch screen works very well and I have no problems getting around and do what I want/need it to do.
The operating system even though somewhat different is very intuitive and straight forward.
I haven't opened the manual yet. To much fun playing and setting up.
As some suggested, we often make the mistake and want to make our new KB sound like the old one, because we are used to a certain sound, which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a new KB.
That being said I played it for a few days to get a good feel for it before making any adjustments.
Coming from the T4 is a huge step up in sound and styles.
Again Wow....
So many new and wonderful styles and so many new and wonderful new sounds.
Love the new SA2 voices with added 3rd ART button.
Everything sounds so much more vibrant, dynamic and alive.
Again the YouTube videos can't really convey that.
The new Revo drums are outstanding and so are the new basses and guitars. It makes the styles sound fresh and more authentic.
The styles are less busy and therefore sound more like a real band. Very playable and lots of room to ad my own creative juices
I downloaded all the T5 audio styles and compared them side by side with the Genos styles.
Except for 2 styles the Revo drums sound more dynamic.
Do the styles sound live?
Yes and no. Definitely more live than before. But maybe not as live sounding as Audya or Pa4X, but the gap is certainly a lot smaller.
However It is not as much the live sound than the dynamics and groove of a style that will fill the dance floor in my experience.
The live sound is more for the player than the audience.
If the groove is right, they'll dance and have a great time.
Is the Genos too expensive?
Yes, if you pay the MAP price.
No, if you buy from Frank at Audiworks .....
This is an incredible machine and it is worth it to me.
A lot of work has gone into creating it.
Is it perfect? I don't know, we all have different needs and we all use arrangers in a different way.
For me as a performer it is close to being perfect. But there is always room for improvement.
But for now I am a very happy camper
It gives me the creative tools I need/want to make instant great music.
All my old stuff works great and sounds better than in the T4.
Of course some old styles need some tweaking.
There is so much to explore and it'll take me a while to take full advantage of all the features.
With the assignable buttons, I have all the buttons I need to get to where I want.
The new playlist is great and I am looking forward to set up my performances that way .
There is so much more that has been already mentioned:
The new Strings, Cello, Mega Voices, Guitars etc
Again: Wow :D:D:D
For me Yamaha got it right this time.
Enough ranting.
Back to playing
