I'm not coming down to Bossier City and filling in for you while you recover, nope, nada, unh unh! Be careful, Don, V-tach is very dangerous. Gary

I talked with Don about an hour ago. He dodged the big bullet, and the docs have him on meds to stabilize his heart rate. If he remains stable through the night, they will likely send him home tomorrow on the new regiment of medications. If not, then the only other option is a Pacemaker/Defibrillator implant, which is usually very, very effective. Keeping my finger crossed, Gary

After talking with you last night, Don, I thought that would be the scenario. The good news is the pacemaker/defibrillators of today are extremely effective, the batteries usually last about 5 or more years, and they can be recharged externally, as I explained on the phone. Good luck with the cardiac catheterization and don't mess with those young, cute, nurses for at least 24 hours after the procedure. After a day of recovery, go for it! All the best, Gary

I just talked with Susan, Don's implant went well this afternoon, he is on his way back to his room and will likely go home tomorrow. The docs tested the pacemaker/defibrillator and said the voltage was right where it should be, which is a good sign.
I'll probably talk with Don tomorrow and post his thoughts, or maybe he will do it himself, which would be even better.
All the best,
Gary

Don, that is a compression bandage. Be careful with this, and if you feel any numbness or tingling sensation below the bandage, call the nurse immediately and have it loosened a bit until those feelings go away. This is very, very important! Gary

Just got off the phone with Don, he's fine, but probably not going home till tomorrow. Nothing to do with his condition, though. The roads in Shreveport, LA are ice and snow covered today, the temperature is well below freezing, and the cardiologist has not been there to see him yet, and it is 1 p.m.. Don said Shreveport has essentially come to a standstill due to the weather. Hopefully, the roads will be defrosted by tomorrow and he can go home to some of Susan's Cajun cooking.
