Official press release

Note the bit about the Yamaha KS-SW100 subwoofer. I use one with my PSR-S770 and its a great way to improve the sound from the internal speakers. Highly recommended!

So Gary...enough to make you sell the old 950 and upgrade to the 975?

Nah, that old S-950 will have to be sold by my kids, along with the sailing yacht and all the other stuff I've managed to accumulate over the years. Now, if I were 20 years younger and still working, one would likely be coming through the door as soon as Frankie V gets them in stock. smile

All the best,

Gary cool

I think this x75 upgrade is either for new Yamaha players or for those that really needed more memory for extra samples.

I just bought a S770, with several other items included in a bundle, for less than $1000, brand new. The price went down so was a good opportunity.

Btw, I suppose the styles in s775 will be back-compatible with s770, right? I might fill-up that on-board memory pretty soon! smile

I can't see any new voices, but they must be there somewhere. For current owners of the high end PSRs, this is a complete nothingburger. I remember the PSR-2100, which was a minor incremental improvement on the PSR-2000. Even that keyboard had more new voices and features.

The increase in onboard styles seems to be modest, but these styles, if they're not already out there, will be available for free download soon. Unfortunately, even though a lot of R&D goes into the styles, it's hard to recoup.

Well, besides the increase in ram memory I’ve found 2 other differences.
Registration memory can now save and store both “transpose” and also
“live control”.
https://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical_...s975/index.html

I wish they’d have done an update for the 970 to include those features.
Feeling cheated!
Jim

The PSRs could always save transpose in registration memory. However, adding Live Control to registration memory opens up new possibilities for live play.

I've owned the PSR-740, 2000, 2100, 3000, S900, S910, S950, S970. For the first time in 20 years, I'm going to skip and wait what will probably be two or three years for what I hope will be a blockbuster.

I know that if I did upgrade, absolutely no one in my audience would hear a smidgen of a difference. If the new keyboard was packed with Tyros 4 voices, I would hear some positive comments.

Seems the hardware is exactly the same as in the psr-s970 and psr-s770.

I was shocked when i read that.

This also could have been a free firmware update.

Gosh I never realized that Yammies didn't already have half-bar fill. Roland has had that for years!
