Jerry, it is a very pretty song ... any chance we might be able to hear your version of it ? ... On our first trip to Italy in 2006, my wife and I were very fortunate to be able to meet up with our a dear departed SZ friend Andrea (Dreamer) ... While having dinner, the two musicians in the restaurant played a beautiful song and I asked Andrea what the name of it was ... He said "Roma, non fa la stupida stasera" - Rome don't be stupid tonight - ... A week or two later he sent me an Italian lead sheet with the lyrics and it has been part of my repertoire ever since ...
Rico, thank you for introducing "Love in Portofino" to me ...

Tony, I am sincerely sorry to hear that Andrea passed. We became email friends through another forum, the good doctor did note that he had serious medical problems but it is still shocking to hear. “Roma no fa …“ is also a staple for me … I heard Sergio Franchi sing it back in the ’70’s and loved it. I don’t record and I know I should, I may record some tunes in the near future.

C'mon, Jerry, join the fray ... get some recordings up here ...
Along with learning the Italian version of "Non fa la stupida" I researched the English translation and wrote a version that tracks the Italian lyrics, rather than sing a different English version ... We were surprised at how popular the song was in Italy ... almost every Italian entertainer we saw during our trip performed it ...
