I may have to sell my beloved PA4X. Health not good these days, and I think I want to go to something lighter in weight. Sure hate to part with it, but time moves on.

Please Don. Don't sell your beloved keyboard. Things are going to get much better for after this rough spot. I can't think of any replacement you could consider that would be lighter than your Korg.

Thank you. Actually I do leave it set up at the job. But I would like to take it home with me sometimes and I have to get someone to load it, then when I get home have to get my young, hot wife to unload it! Not supposed to lift more than about 20 pounds.
Another factor is that my fingers and wrists are hurting after four hours on the semi-weighted action. I need lighter keys, in direct opposition to what most people want.

To read this make me sad.
It also reminds me about that we'll never know what there is in front of us when we pass
the next curve down the road, neither what may happen within an hour or tomorrow.
All the best wishes for you Don, hope you'll find a good substitude for the PA4X.
Whatever that will be, we know it will sound amazingly good, like DonM always does.

Gunner, if I had longer to live, I would have already purchased a Genos. I just got back from seeing a surgeon about having a ventral hernia repaired laparoscopicly. He said he that at this time, the hernia was not posing any risk, but the biggest risk would be for me to undergo general anesthesia. He said with my lung condition, plus having a couple heart attacks, I probably would not survive the anesthesia, even though it would only be a 20 to 30 minute procedure. He also told me that the pain I was experiencing was not from the hernia, but instead, my arthritic hip joints. He showed me the large amount of calcium deposits within the joints, which I will just have to suffer with. Oh well, I still have my S-950, a good supply of Jim Beam Honey Bourbon, and a bottle of morphine tablets. Not a bad combination if I could figure out how to play music while I'm totally stoned.

I can't help but noticing that the streetprice in the US of A is in between 5000 and 5500 bucks, so I guess that is going to leave you "empty-handed" if you stick to your offer.
You mention the keybed and it being too heavy on the PA4X so I guess what is left would be a choice between the Korg PA700/1000
and the Yammie PSR 950 or 970 ? I played both the PA700 and the PA1000 of course. The PA700 keybed imho is absolutely dreadful , I guess the PA1000 is pretty similar to the PSR series..........
Whatever you decide I hope it turns out well for you and that you may long enjoy your next choice !!!

Have you considered leaving Korg for home use and leaving something with lighter key feel at work. Bit extravagant, but just a thought.
I sold my technics kn7000 at a bad time in my life ( not because of financial reasons) and it’s the one keyboard I’ve regretted selling ever since.

If it’s a case of wanting a change, that’s different. Hope you find something you enjoy.

Rikki, that's a good idea, and one I've considered. I won't be in a big rush to sell the 4x, but if the opportunity arises...
I very seldom play at home unless it's to learn a song, and I can do that with a guitar.
I will probably use a PSR S970. If my health improves, they are easy to sell, and maybe by then something else will be on the horizon. What I play will have zero impact on my audience or employer, as long as it sounds good, and most everything does now.

I tried to get that EA7 to sound like by BK7 did, but I never got there. I think the BK7 was the best sound I ever had as far as live on stage. But PA4X is right there with it.
I suppose I just didn't want to spend the time and effort to get the EA7 to where I needed it to be.

The EA7 sounds great but you need to spend time teaching it how to do that,...
it certainly can be done with the makeup tools in so many ways..and you can carry it under your arm home with you after the gig.

Don...I'm following this with great interest and empathy for you. Sounds like the S-970 is the right fit.

+1 to the suggestion of Roland E-A7 or even a BK-9. If weight and portability are issues, both are lighter and less bulky than the PSR-S970. Don I really hope you are back in full swing very soon!

I tried both the BK9 and EA7 for a couple of weeks each and ended up sending them back.
They are must missing too many things I like, but they both sound great.
The PA4 is now sold!

Sorry to hear of the health issues...

With my recent health issues, I thought long and hard about buying Genos and Bose S1...very $$$. At age 69, I’m counting on being able to gig long enough to pay for it.

15lbs for S1 makes it very easy to transport. Genos is just slightly heavier than my S970.

A $3,000 Genos probably isn’t out there yet....but not that far away from $3,000 if you look around.

Maybe the buyer will tell who he is?

I've had to part with a prized instrument for one 5 lbs lighter and may reduce still due to health issues so I know the feeling. A PA 1000 is about 2 lbs lighter than per 970. Not a consideration? Or is keybed heavier touch 6than 970/same as pa4x?

I didn't want to deal with a new learning curve right now. I can simply plug my USB drive into the S970 and start playing!
I'll build a few more Registrations, but that's about all I'll have to do.

This is more of a mystery then me having the Roland EA7 this long....just sayin..

I'll tell you........the 1000 in a good sturdy 61 case with wheels, is heavy!! A flimsy 76 case, with wheels, was lighter and easier to move the 3X around. Now lifting it on a stand is a different story.

I was thinking about the PA 1000 for you too.
Wouldn't it be very similar to the PA4X?

There are not too many Don Ms in the world. If he is selling something and I want it I know it is in great condition and the price is right. No bargaining or doubting.

I had someone say that if they were buying a keyboard they would ask me to do to for them because I know how to get a good deal. NO! I sold my pa4x with a Paas speaker for $2,400. I bought another Pa4x because I missed having one; it is one great keyboard. I am also working on enjoying the dollars I have made in the past.

Wallet is dry. My first hospital bill was $68,000. Many more to come. Good insurance, but deductibles and co-pays add up.

Omg!! That is unbelievable. Basically our medical is free, but you do get stuck on waiting lists for what they call elective surgery. We can get health insurance for private hospitals etc but you do end up slightly out of pocket going down that route.
The public were jumping up and down a few years back because the prime minister dared to mention a $7 co payment to go see a doctor. Mind you this was only for the ones who could afford it . That idea got trashed.
Maybe we should have the USA health system, then they’d really have something to complain about.

I’m still dumbfounded at the cost.
