Hi everyone,

Since a couple of weeks I own a Technics kn6000, after playing on a kn 3000 for sometime now. After my first purchase of kn3000 I bought "Style Wroks 2000" and that worked fine for my kn3000. I have version 1.95. So far so good.

Now I wanna use the soft to convert some styles to play on my kn6000, but Technics models in my version go up to kn 5000. I'm not a professional, and dont have the money to buy a new version of the soft. A simple student playing for fun in my free time and just saved enough for a new keyboard.

Can someone help me with an upgrade? Please do not post if you ask money, cuz I can't afford it. I searched the forum and realized tha Fran is the man to address. Can you help me Fran if you read this?

You can mail me as well if you wish:

1251414@student.acta.nl

Thanks a lot in advace

Hi Tom
If your version of Styleworks 2000 converts styles to KN3000 and KN5000, then your KN6000 should be able to read both sets of files, but may need a bit of tweaking. You may find that styles converted to the KN3000 may be the better of the two. Just try both. Alternatively there was a free style convert disc with the KN6000 which converts styles from earlier models.

the only reason to have the latest version is to convert from kn7000 format backwards to enable loading into your kn6000. If you are just converting from other manufacturers to technics there is nothing much gained in the latest version (apart from the newer model updates) and you can just save to kn5000 format and then load directly in your kn6000 normally, so there is no great need for the latest version in the first place since what you have will still work fine.

Thanks for the reply guys. I already tried converting the styles to kn3000's and kn5000's to load it into my kn6000, strangly enough it didn't work!

You said something about "tweaking". Can you please specify what that tweaking might be and maybe anyone knows what the reason is that my keyboard doesn't recognize those styles (and eventually how to solve it)?

Yes I have the convert disk, but when I use that, it gives my only the option of converting the styles of kn1000/750. I don't know what's wrong. I think I'm going crazy here, lol.

Hi Tom,
you don't need to buy a new version of StW. As a registered user with EMC-Data-Key for activating the soft you'll get any future-version of Style Works for free (in time version 2.37, which converts KN-6000 and KN-7000 too). Email to EMC (EmcSoftware@aol.com) to get the update-download-address.
Regards
anabe

Editing is required because raw conversions rarely if ever sound as good as the preset styles or professionally produced retail styles for instance and need some work to improve them, at the minimum in balance and sounds and often more.
The supplied conversion disk is meant for the other manufacturers styles listed and contains technics 1000/750 because technics 2000, 3000, 5000 formats load directly into the keyboard and require no conversion.

Hiya Anabe
This must be a recent change of policy then because last time I e-mailed the owner of this business he replied that updates would require a fee to be paid of 99 euros...
Tell me more.
Rog

99 Euro was fee for a sidegrade, f.e. from technics to yamaha / korg aso. Updates in the same line f.e. technics v2.20 to technics v2.30 or actual v2.37 is for free. Ask EMC as a registered user for the updatepath. But these updates can only been used by registered users with O-Key-Data.

was there not a fee for the major upgrade from 16 bit to 32 bit version? my 32 bit upgrades are free. If Tom is a legitimate user he can mail Klauss with bugs and fixes usually follow in my experience.

Yes, you have right. But Tom's version v1.95 is the 32bit-version. Therefore he as a legitimated user will get further technics-updates of StWt 2000 for free.
