Also, this is, presumably, a stock SD40, and when you add AJAMsonic, it is a level beyond that.

Donny, I imagine it's for the same reasons that you no longer have one, and most of the guys that I know that purchased one no longer have theirs. I suspect it's great to use in the studio, but on stage, I suspect there are some drawbacks. Just sayin'!

...Gary I have owned and performed with almost every Ketron unit EXCEPT the Audya,...but I actually auditioned it
pre release at AJ's lab in DE before it went to market with Fran and was blown away at it's features,...I guess the timing wasn't right to switch KB's due to my schedule restraints at the time but I truly wanted to after playing one,..it sounds so live for so many reasons.

carry on and stay the course.. cool2

My journey with Ketron got a brutal stop after they announced Audya..
Date for arrival was set, I sold my SD1 to be ready for the new 'wondermachine', but delays after delays after delays the Ketron way ....
Got tired of endless waiting, bought a G-70, the rest is history.

That said, Ketron products sounds great, SD9 looks promising, but for me the next addition will be Korg PA?X-76.....

I have had good experience with Ketron, starting with Audya, then SD2, SD4, and the now the SD40. I am fully aware of the problems others have faced in the past, but I have found my products solid as a rock. The Audya,IMO, has the best live sound in styles, and about on par with my PA4x in lead sounds. The Pa4X is second in styles only because of personal taste, I suppose. However, we are only talking about the sound. When you add in features, navigation, workflow, etc., it is too subjective to discuss. I use the Audya more for my band and when I don't need the added features of the Korg.

As to why I don't use the SD40 as my main AX, I don't have one, but it is used as much as the others, depending on the type of gig. I could very easily use the SD40 and SK1(or any controller) for any and all of my jobs, but I want to keep fresh for repeat audiences, and we all know that songs can employ many different styles. Well, as well as different songs, I have my core of two hundred songs in each.

In reference to Gary's observation, I may have agreed with him until the SD40. The only possible drawback is that a module does not have all of the live buttons the SD7 has, but I have made registrations that have done away with the need for lightning fast changes. For all intents and purposes, I have a rock solid SD7 and Hammond B3 at my fingertips, and I am delighted at the results.

Thanks for asking. Donny.
