Wersi OAX instruments are first and foremost an organ, they just happen to have arranger features as well, (Arranger keyboards came from the easy play features of organs of the eighties) and as organ play is different to Arranger play the styles are made to suit, (Start playing the lower manual and pedals with arranger styles and the styles completely fall apart as no arranger can keep up) the main concession that Wersi made for those wishing to learn how to play organ after the limited flexibility of an arranger, was to allow T2 styles to be loaded natively but still sound as if they were part of the instrument. (Rather than something tacked on)

OAX instruments have access to professional sounds used in professional film and music production studios via VST, so hardware sounds are not really necessary, but as some people like a particular type of sound, (Korg, Roland, Yamaha etc.) the ability to control the hardware like it was part of the instrument was added.

As to the future, they are constantly being updated so it’s a wait and see, (There should be another big update soon as it’s that time of year (Although early year updates are usually more feature and sound based rather than backing which comes later in the year) they are supposed to adding style conversion (through a partnership with EMC) for all the main manufactures though.

If you just want an arranger then spending on an OAX instrument is not for you, (There are plenty of cheaper good quality instruments out there) but if you want to be able to play all types of music, have an instrument that doesn’t become obsolete every 3 or 4 years, (Requiring you to trade it in to get the next new one) gives you the ability to use professional sounds (Way beyond what you get in most hardware instruments) and will literally grow with you, then a Wersi OAX instrument is ideal.

The choice is yours

Bill

Maybe some people want both...
and they dont want to choose between Wersi and an arranger but combine them..
Which could very well be possible as we have seen Carlo do with Varranger.

Personlly i like the idea of having the best of all in a single instrument..
A partnership with Varranger could work miracles for Wersi..
Looks like Bemore Organs allready did this..
as they are supporting all 4 style types Varranger also supports.

Dont get me wrong, i think the OAX really has a lot going for it..
If there ever is an OAX module... or OAX piano.. i might go for it..
Espescially if its possible to integrate the best arrnager styles with it...

The biggest problem with Bemore (And vArranger if it uses the same system) is that all the styles from the different manufactures use the on board GM voices, so require quite a bit of editing to make them sound half decent, whereas Wersi normally create voices that emulate any special voices of other manufactures for best compatibility. (E.G. Voices with ACC after their name have been programmed by Wersi to emulate the response of the Yamaha Mega voices so that T2 styles sound like they are part of the instrument))

Varranger now has 4 soundsets, one for each style brand
All of the highest quallity
They are played with the build-in softsynth..
Each soundsets is over 10GB of sample data
Offcourse the samples are based off the orriginal instruments

This is how you play an ARRANGER INSTRUMENT while still having FULL control of your music. Watch this demo all the way to the end:- https://youtu.be/SJvG1vScSjA

It also shows why arranger modules are so incredible versatile...

Weather you add them to
-an organ like the Wersi or a Hammomd(clone)
-a stage piano like the nord stage 3 or Roland RD2000
-a fullfledged workstation like the Korg kronos
-a performance synth like the yamaha Montage
-a midified accodeon

If done smart, it turms any instrument into a fullfledged arranger with an extra set of solo/sounds on top of that..

A module is the answer for many people that want more then a typical arranger.. And yet, you only have Ketron as a real contender in this segment(you could also consider the Varranger, or a use Roland BK7, if you want to spend less)

Agree. Another great use is as a SUPER-DUPER drum machine. That is how I use my BK7m. It is actually easier to use than most dedicated drum machines and of course has the added bonus of additional voices and the arranger function. So for me, if gigging as an organ trio, I'd prefer a BK7m (or one of the Ketron modules) to a Genos. Just a question of which is best suited for the job.
