First, let me say that I'm a big fan of the Allman Brothers but for this particular tune, I prefer the Bobby 'Blue' Bland version which I consider the definitive version. It was written by T-Bone Walker who probably got 1/10th of what Bobby Bland got and 1/100th of what The Allman Brothers got....but hey, that was the scene at the time (re: Fever - Little Willie John vs Peggy Lee). Bobby 'Blue' Bland changed the tune significantly from the original T-Bone Walker version but the Allman Brothers pretty much co-opted (although extended) the Bobby Bland version. Just personal preference though, it's all subjective. All the major versions (including Latimore's) were good, mainly because the tune itself is such a solid blues vessel.
