Sorry Steve, but that is definitely not the case. Those of us that have been in broadcast news know how to provide all the expression you need to produce excellent vocals.
My headset mic was designed by Garth Brooks and has been used by dozens of pro entertainers. Anyone that has heard me sing will disagree with you as well.
If you don't have - you just don't have it.

Garth is not a dynamic singer at all. He had "it", but the star is definitely not a dynamic singer in the "Big Voice" category which I am alluding to.....Haven't heard your VOX & those who would swear by it, but the kind of dynamics I am speaking of I would venture to guess does not apply to you stylistically.
Broadcasting is way, way, way different from the dyanmics of a vocalist, where you need to back away from the mic at times and work the mic.
You can always choose to use a headset, & it is generally for specific reasons one would use them, and that is okay. But it is a huge trade-off for most people.
A headset has it's place for many people, & you appear to be one. For me, I will work the mic with the technique I have honed over the years
