In scouring the manual, I can't find how to simply write a different style into a Songbook reg, without bringing along its four sets. I have a song where I use all four sets. I want to use the sets with another style, not the ones that go with it. I could change them one by one, but I am sure I don't have to.

I wish they would let you save a set to use wherever you want. I'll investigate but I think you have to do them one at a time, each time.

That's correct Don.....I save all my USER custom sounds first and just load them into what ever style I am working with and re-save the style with the 4 sounds etc, into the song book
making sure I use 1 as the "GENRE" also..

On my Pa700 I've stored all my custom sound settings on the user sound library together with any of the keyboard sets from styles that I could use with other styles. I can then either add to songbook or use the custom sounds on the fly while playing.

I guess there is no easy answer, as the style and sounds are pretty much bound together. A user slot may be the only way to achieve this. I will take it to the Korg forum also. This is where Ketron, for one, is easier. You can take any sound preset and mix and match any style.

Bernie one of the reasons I like Korg is that you can take a factory preset and save it in song book with different instruments. I spend a good deal of time making these changes. I do the same with the pads. Have a dedicated switch which mutes everything but the bass and drums in the style -- then I add the pads. When I am trying to end with excitement I combine var 4 and all the pads.

Korg allows us the freedom to have the instrument and pads linked to a factory style. For me everything else is second.

I have my songbook songs all set with the 4 keyboard sets but I never use my setting because that gives me my go to setting. I have all my setting in user keyboard sets I use piano sets slot and have page one of that with my most used sets page 2 is the
2ond most used sets rather than having to reach all the way over to synth or ethnic buttons. It keeps all my settings very easy to reach if my song is not in songbook or i need more than 4 presets. Works like a charm.

I use a different approach. I tweaked the styles I use most, and gave them all the same sound set. Saved them to user location, and now when I change a pattern (which I often do within a song) my go-to sounds are always handy.
My default patch is a grand piano sound, and my 4 go-to sounds are:
1) Rhodes (with opt strings, and steel drum layers)
2) Organ
3) Sax (with added saxes for sectional sound)
4) Brass

There's almost no song I cant do with these ready to go tones, and when I need something specific, like a guitar, or synth ... it's so easy to get to.
