I can’t think of many other singers that sung with such raw emotion. R.I.P.

Unique. One in a generation.

It's an old adage really that I really believe, but the mark of a true talent is that you know a voice as soon as they open their mouth. A distinctiveness that overrides all else, Aretha Franklin had that by the boatload. Add in the sheer 'feel', natural musicality, raw emotion, call it what you will, and those qualities she possessed in huge quantities as well.

Rest in peace Miss Franklin, your music will last forever.

Such a great loss and we are very fortunate to have lived in her time. She will always be the Queen Of Soul. She is also the first woman to be inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame. Bless you Aretha I miss you so much.

Steely Dan - Hey Nineteen. "Hey Nineteen, that's Aretha Franklin, she don't remember the Queen Of Soul. It's hard times befallen the Soul Survivors. She thinks I'm crazy but I'm just growing old"

Having breakfast listening to the URI radio station that plays Jazz certain mornings of the week ... they were doing a tribute to Aretha and this was one of the songs they played ... I hadn't heard it before, but I think it is just beautiful ...

Tony, I hadn't heard this version before although I'm very familiar with the tune. I love Aretha and her vocals here were great as usual, BUT.....I REALLY didn't like this bizarre choice of chords used in this arrangement. Ruined the tune for me. This is a very standard tune covered by lots of artists, especially do-wop groups.

Pretty song, though. Shoot the arranger, I say smile.
