Well I certainly do on all levels,....being highly claustrophobic I have till now walked out, jumped out, screamed out, bailed out,
ran out, of at least 6 different types of MRI imaging machines including the dreaded TUNNEL, Big Bore Tunnel, Open sandwich, etc,etc,....no way I am going anywhere near or inside one of these mid evil coffin like torture devices in any way shape or form!!! surprised

Until yesterday when someone recommenced to me an
UPRIGHT OPEN STAND UP MRI only a short 50 min drive away,I walked in after reading online reviews, and talking with them on the phone and I was assured I would be sitting down with all open top & bottom and a giant flat screen TV to watch thruout the 30 min procedure...I must say it was the Best experience of my life and highly recommend you search out this form of MRI before being subjected to any other type seriously...painless, unclaustrophobic, the tech talked with me from her glassed in room on mic watching me the whole time telling me what to expect on every 3,4,5 min imaging session thru the 30 min test,....
I will only go here from now on if ever needed again.
I even gave her a BIG Hug when I left thanking her!! cool2
....here is a picture of what it was like...take care..

Donny,

Thanks for the info! Although I’ve never had a problem going into the tube for an MRI, it’s not something I ever looked forward to.

Neat, I have the same problem, Donny. Love it!

Donny, I have a problem with the tube also and when I've had to do it I usually took a Valium before hand. I can handle the Open MRI (sandwich?)fairly well, but the one in your pictures certainly is a game changer ...
Thanks for posting that.

Donny,
I have been using this "stand up" system for about 10 years. Very easy and simple.
It is called Open MRI in our area. Have had knees, neck, and back MRI's with this system. All very easy to get through.

Deane

I had a heart attack when I went for an MRI so you could say I don't like them. smile Had to have bypass surgery and it all worked out but nice to know these stress-free MRIs exist.

Donny:

That is a great option. I've had three MRIs and all were in the "tunnel" machines. (Some worse and even more claustrophobic than the others... and one made noises further adding to the anxiety factor)... but I'm so grateful this technology is available and constantly improving. My only concern about the "sit up or stand up" version... if they have TV sets, would I have to endure even more TV commercials? LOL!
