KORG PA Songbook vs Yamaha Genos?...I am familiar with the KORg but never laid hands on a Genos yet.

For you players that have Both (Steve M?)etc,.. or tried both what are the Pros & Cons of each songbook setup for live performance.

The big advantage of the Genos is that you have your performance memmories on top of the songbook... together they make a perfect team..

This is mainly because the philosophy for live use between the instruments is different, Yamaha's philosophy is to have everything preprepared and accessible trough the performance memories

Where korg's philosophy is to offer yoyu as many tools for changing your performance real time and live... thats why there is just a single songbook entry/song on the pa4x, and no performance memmories but just a lot of buttons

What i do like on the pa4x is the set list... which works very well for live use, as it allows you to make a selection out of your songbook for easy access, i dont even know if the genos has such a feature

Sorry the korg has 4 performance buttons memorised with each songbook entry. I know because that's how mine is set up. It even allows 4 performances with each mp3 midi or mp3+g file.

From my point of view both are effective tools. What I like about Genos is the Playlist is tied to registration buttons, with 10 registration buttons the sky is the limit as to what can be set up. What’s cool about the Playlist in Genos is that you when you hit the Playlist selection via the touch screen it can be set to pull up any registration i.e. 1 thru 10. Usually I choose reg 1 to open a song. I reserve buttons 8 and 9 to turn on/turn off the vocal harmonized. I usually reserve button to for the ending. Playlist via registrations can trigger midi files or mp3 files too.

I don’t find advantages of Songbook over Playlist and vice versa, they both get the job done but in different ways.

I don’t have an s975 but I know for the s970 there’s the Music Finder feature but it cannot be tied to registrations like the Playlist in Genos. When I use the s970 I work with registrations and the Music Finder feature.

I wish they would ask REAL Pro players that use both to find out what design would be best for live performance,..................
to this day nothing IMO ever compares to KETRON MidJay PRO units where you can actually play ALL MODES AT ONCE separately so you can switch between all live..style/smf/mp3/wav/fx/ all controlled with sliders in real time just brilliant. That is a feature I miss.

Genos with registrations/playlist is very versatile. Works a bit better for me than Songbook.

The fact that you can have a full bank of registrations for every entry on the Genos, puts the Genos in a world of its own..
Only Wersi has such a feature in oax..
