These are much more than pads. Yes, we do have 'virtual' pads on the screen which you can touch to trigger (turn on/off, edit ... etc) but that is all they share in common. The pad control features hidden behind each pad is where the "magic" happens. You can also program a pad to control other pads ... as will be shown in videos forthcoming.....

What Bruno means, is this feature needs to have some drum pads..
To make it really perfect.. 16 drum pads and 16 tracks and 16 scenes and you can use the drum pads to either select tracks or to select scenes Or all those other great things drum pads can be used for.
But all in all, i hope this video helps to convince people of the usefullness of the launchpad. For me this is a game changer in the keyboard world.
I never realised you can switch style variations in the launchpad witouth switching scenes.

This is what makes people understand a unit, this is what makes people learn, this is how you mix it up! and this is what makes people BUY a product, keep up the good work on all aspects and Ketron features...I hope besides SZ this great Ketron Ajamsonic public relations wave is being shown all over the world on social media and beyond to make players aware of how amazing an arranger keyboard can be. ...watching is learning.

Maybe in a future product .... maybe..... But what are the advantages of physical pads over those we currently have on the touch screen ....besides being able to use with a "hammer"?
The nanoPad2 is hardly useful with the Pa4x. It's a wonderful little controller that I use a lot for everything else but not so much with the Pa4x.
Here's why. You can only assign a single PC message to one pad. An example would be functions such as Intro, Var1, Ending 2....etc. Not exactly useful, because you already have dedicated buttons directly on the panel for these Style Elements. You can't use it to select sounds and styles, because with the nanoPad2 you can't assign a string of PC/LSB/MSB to the same pad...meaning you would have to press at least 3 different pads in succession in order to get something selected!
The Genius award goes to whomever thought that was a good idea!

I made a setup on the kronos that allows the nanopad to send those variations/intro/ending to the PA4x... so i dont have to reach all the way up to the pa4x.
I think both Kronos as well as Montage should have had 16 pads build in..

Grab some coffee and enjoy this rather detail tutorial of the LaunchPad feature!
Thanks,
Donny ..... NO WAY you could have watched it all by now ... this would even beat the rate at which you switch keys :-)
I didn't say I watched it I applauded you for posting it....
You should watch it, its the arranger feature that will be copied by all others and will change how we use arrangers in the next decade... its the pro arranger feature that will pull non arranger pro players into arranger country...
Altough i think it might be more suited for kronos and montage then for most yamaha arranger players.

I came to a strange conclusion from watching this.. Most of this can be done with a Yamaha Genos to..
When you think of scenes as registration memmories.. And use the channel on/off screen for switching channels on/off (and the multipads) There is also the registration sequences You get very close to the same possibilities(no audio guitars, but thats where yamaha has mega/voives)
But the workflow is way way less intuitive on the Genos. For example using a style with a chordsequence requires some work(you need to use the normal sequencer)
This is where Korg trails... You still can’t play midi files and play styles at the same time on Korg(atleast i haven’t figured out how) And there are no convenient registration memmories..
Yet again, it is the convenient interface that makes this launchpad feature unique.. And offcourse there are some indepth features hard to cover on yamaha instruments..

Bachus,
You are either confused or you do not understand the Launch Pads properly. You cannot come even close using the Genos to achieve the same results. Can you get a wav file to follow tempo and chord changes? Can you use parts of existing styles to build up a scene without editing the style as such? can you play a midi, wav file, other audio tracks, all following the tempo and chord changes? Can you seamlessly put all of this together with intros/endings and 6 scenes (variations) that could be played live as a style?
Please be so kind as to demonstrate in an video recording so we all could understand. Maybe you will enlighten the rest of us simpletons...
Better still, you have heard the results of the above on the SD series. Post us an MP3 file showing something similar achieved on the Genos, played LIVE that is!
We are looking forward in great anticipation to hearing something similar to this:

But except for the audio parts, i am pretty sure most of this can be done on any yamaha key.... as long as you recognise that a scene is actually the same as a performance memmory.. and on yamaha you can play the sequencer and a style at the same time..
Just set the sequencer in the performance memmory to keep repeating the part between 2 pointers and you have a loop...
The only thing missing is retriggering... but you can use the mute buttons in the channel delection screen of genos to play or mute sequencer tracks/style tracks
I cant find a picture, but this video shows the channel selection screen og genos a few times...
As said, the interface is much less intuitive... but it will work... Just the midi parts offcourse... but then there is not much that the Genos can not do with midi.. the audio part is still Ketrons teritority..
But you underestimate what todays keyboards are capable of with some creative use.
