In 1985 I used a guitar with a midi attachment plugged into a midi interphase. Then into my Technics keyboard. Midi channel for the guitar and keyboard – I controlled the left hand of the keyboard causing the chord to change -- following my guitar.
More than three notes changed the chord. Single notes did not change the chord. I also had pedals that would control what I needed. Any of the instrument sounds could be played using my guitar, Instrument sounds and my guitar could be played together. So how far have we come.
It was a great setup for a OMB, but I stopped using it because neither instrument was being used to it’s capacity. The set at that time could be plugged into any keyboard. Tried Triple Play Midi for my guitar two years ago. Again, to much technolgy -- taking away from my playing. John C.

... and that's why KETRON have simplified it a whole lot now in their recent products ... the Midjay pro, SD40 and SD90 make playing fun again, while allowing you to focus on what makes you happy - creating music and 'performing'.

I’m from the old school of playing without a recorded backup. I never felt comfortable playing gigs with guitar, so I used a keyboard to play gigs, and played guitar with other bands and at home.

PS, I played Technics keyboards for many years. The only keyboard that tempted was the Ketron, but I only had to see one once. It did sound good. There were no stores in the area where I could get to play one.
