Making a PA900 module ...

I've decided to rip the keys off my old 900, and reform the guts into a module ... WITH the speakers. I intend to sit it above my SV-1 in the studio to give me arranger/rhythm/sequence, and vocal capabilities. Fran and I had a friend who did this all the time to his keyboards. In fact, often times, he'd buy 2 of the same piece, and take one apart right away ... for fun. He was a bit of an electrical guru for me - used to repair airplane engines, I think. Cool guy, good musician, played and sang into his 90s. So ... any tips on making a good solid, compact cabinet for the upper end of the PA900? I've had it open many times, and I already know that the entire area where the keys reside is free from the main circuits. I'm thinking I'll simply take out the keybed, cut the body of the unit an build a thin wooden case to house the entire top section, including the speakers. Then, I'll try to match the color (RED, of course) on the SV-1. I'm in no rush to do this, but kind of excited to have a custom rig as my main studio controller.
Thoughts?
