When we had a dog, she never left our property, though she was allowed to run loose. I really didn't worry about where she pooped, because when you live in the middle of 5.5 acres, dog poop is the least amount of poop on the lawn. Every night we have a dozen or more deer on the lawn, all of which poop a lot. We also have raccoons, opossum, squirrel, and wild turkeys spending time on the lawn. They all poop! Consequently, I mow the lawn with a tractor. The critters, including the dog, and cats, never, to my knowledge pooped in my gardens and flower beds. Might be a good reason for this, though.
This 7 foot black snake inhabited my pond garden for several years. He is swallowing a full-grown cotton-tail rabbit just a few feet from my deck.
