Our Golden was part of our family also ... he just didn't eat at our table or sleep in our bed ...
But we certainly felt the pain when he passed ...

Oh no, sleeping in our bed is not an option here..
Also he does not eat at our table, but awaits his food under the table, in general till we are done eating. I just dont like to leave him at home for longer periods of time..

But as a smaller dog, he is very well behaved and trained.

As a Rhode Island resident I agree, don't need one sitting at the table.
