Curt's posts of Christmas songs in a Jazz style ...
Curt asked which we like better, and I personally like both styles - Jazz and Traditional, but especially when it comes to Christmas Carols such as "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful", it depends on when and where I am listening to them... I have several "Christmas Jazz" CDs that include both standard songs and Carols, obviously in Jazz styles, which I play while we have about 24 family members on Christmas eve for dinner ... They fill the house with lively Christmas spirit ...
But on Christmas day when we are in Church, I expect to hear and enjoy the Traditional version of the Christmas Carols ...

This takes nothing away from the performances in Curt's posts, and I thank him again for those ...

Tony,

I could not agree with you more. I am a traditionalist but I can certainly enjoy a jazz (or other genre) version of a Christmas Song... as long as it is in good taste.

Sometimes I accompany my wife to Hobby Lobby, a big box hobby and decorating chain... and they play instrumental music so cleverly scored and played... it may take me a while to recognize the old hymn... but I am always pleased to know the melody is "alive and well" and what a comfort that is to me.

Merry Christmas, my friend... thanks for sharing. ----Dave

You both make a good point. I already posted that I prefer the Jazz arrangements, but I would agree they may not go over quite as well at Christmas service.

Following that thought, the next upload or two will be traditional arrangements.

Maybe you can without tightening your underwear. Ha ha. Well at least with my Clavinova CVP 307 it came with a disk that set the vocal harmonizer to sound like chipmunks. Every Christmas when we had quite a few kids under age 11 visiting I’d pop the floppy into the drive and set it to sing like the chipmunks, it was a hit ever year. Even the big kids got a kick out of it.

So far as jazz and traditional style Christmas music I enjoy both jazz and the traditional. Today on my 3 mile walk I listened to Christmas music from the Boston Pops then Tony Bennett from “ A Swinging At Christmas Featuring The Count Basie Big Band”
