It was neither of the instruments you posted. This thing actually was played "sideways" like a real flute... mouthpiece excepted! Thanks for trying, though.

Actually my name is Dave as well. And I do remember the ‘flute’ you’re talking about but have had zero luck in finding a reference to it so far. But I’ll keep trying. 😉

I had thought of that one as well. However, Dave (the boxed rice meal one, not me) is referring to an instrument that is held off the the right side of your head like a real flute. Still looking.

You are 100% correct. It was not a Tonette. Thanks for trying but don't spend too much time 'cause I've looked and used most available search engines without success. I would sure love to have one again just to see if my memory cells and muscle memory still work in that direction. (Something I can take with me to the nursing home when they drag me away... LOL!)
